In about a week the Christmas tree will be out of the house, the decorations will be stored away and once again homeowners see their rooms stripped of embellishments.
Knowing this, furniture stores offer the best pricing of the year. If you've been considering new furniture and accessories this is ideal time to do it. Special order items can take 8-10 weeks so plan ahead if you have guests arriving or are planning for a major event. I know the trend has been toward grey everything with color spots in the room. I am already hearing people saying they want more warmth and color so don't be afraid to buck the trend and follow your heart. You don't replace big ticket items often so stay neutral with their fabric selections and be more daring with your choice of accessories.
If you stay with shades of a neutral your room will be monochromatic. It will require an accent color and live plants and special lighting accents. In most rooms I use a formula 60/30/10. The 60%is usually the color of the walls, the 30% the large pieces of furniture and the 10% the accent pieces.

When you are sitting in a room the one piece of furniture you are always looking at is the cocktail table. That is the piece of furniture I choose to spend more money on. You will enjoy it every day you look at it. It can also have an ever changing look. Simply add fresh flowers of the season and conversation pieces that bring you pleasure.
