For Samantha and Karl’s intimate wedding at : A “duo” of cakes in a Christmassy color palette of rich leaf green, crimson, and white, adorned with handmade sugar anemones and rose leaves. We added some subtle speckles to the white tier by kneading in a handful of toasted black sesame seeds — I just love this look. (For what it’s worth, the sesame seed trick would add lots of visual interest to any all-white multi-tiered cake!) On the inside: Earl Grey cake with lavender buttercream, and gluten-free vanilla cake with espresso buttercream.

A total labor of love for Kristina and Michael’s baby shower: Custom handmade figurines of their dogs (including teddy bear toy!), custom cartoon replicas of their truck and airstream trailer (made of Rice Krispie treats and chocolate ganache!), custom sugar baby figurine and Rice Krispie hot air balloon, finished off with piped buttercream clouds and grass details. On the inside: Vanilla buttermilk cake with French custard buttercream and salted caramel sauce, and dark chocolate cake with salted caramel buttercream and butterscotch toffee bits.

On this eve of Thanksgiving, I had the pleasure of setting up Sally and Alan’s wedding cake at the top of the Space Needle. It’s always a treat to step into the freight elevator with a bunch of cake tiers in boxes, see the twinkling lights of the city below as I ascend to the top, and finish assembling the cake on site before waving my magic wand and disappearing into the elevator again, bound for the Seattle Center loading dock! I feel like a cake fairy. I’ve been working with Sally for only a short time (fairly last-minute wedding cake order!) but it’s been a pure DELIGHT and I’m so thankful for meaningful work and enthusiastic clients to share it with. On the inside: Almond cake with chocolate ganache and sour cream frosting, and vanilla buttermilk cake with strawberry mousseline. “Aged stone” fondant exterior with handmade sugar flowers and leaves.

Loving these dreamy cake photos (and priceless cake-cutting moments) from Isabella and Jonathan’s wedding at .castle earlier this year, captured by and featured recently on ! The couple requested our “stucco” buttercream finish on a classic three-tier, adorned with custom sugar flowers (“Westminster Abbey” roses, “Rose of Sharon”, and dark green foliage) in keeping with the romantic castle setting. On the inside: Vanilla Lemon Blackberry, Velveteen Carrot, and Crème Caramel.

Details from a suuuper tall and fancy cake we set up at the headquarters in S**o yesterday, to celebrate their “go-live” day with . We can’t show you the rest (because of the Starbucks logo elsewhere on the cake…) but this super festive, coppery textured buttercream base tier with piped buttercream details and sugar fall leaves is my favorite part anyway! 🍁🥰💗 On the inside: Dark chocolate cake with fig jam, balsamic syrup, and chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream; and vanilla buttermilk cake with French custard buttercream and salted caramel sauce.

First birthday teddy bear cake for a little guy called Teddy. On the inside: Velveteen Carrot cake with cream cheese mousseline. The exterior is a combo of white chocolate ganache, milk chocolate ganache, and Swiss meringue buttercream — to create the perfect color, flavor, and texture for the bear’s fur! 🧸💗🍰

Their enthusiasm for our art was a much-needed reminder of why I do what I do!This one’s definitely among my top-three favorites of ALL the wedding cakes we made this past season.

Production at the cake studio is slowing down just a little for us now (which is a welcome change! 😅) but I’m planning to stay busy this winter by adding new tutorials to our YouTube channel, and hosting some in-person sugar flower workshops too.

For Jeremy and Dean’s intimate wedding at : Two tiers of shiny black “patent leather” fondant, cascading sugar flowers (hellebore, wild rose, ranunculus, dahlia bud, chocolate cosmos, clematis leaves), and a pair of solid white chocolate skulls as the topper. Upon seeing the cake for the first time, Dean’s jaw dropped and he gazed at the cake in speechless, wide-eyed wonder for a while. Jeremy looked at him, then looked at me and said, “I’ve never seen him like that!” ❤️🥹❤️ On the inside: Lemon cake with lemon syrup and strawberry mousseline.

We dressed up a simple semi-naked cake with handmade sugar foliage (ferns and Japanese maple leaves) to represent the couple’s favorite plants, for their lovely poolside wedding in Rainier Valley last weekend. The chocolate raspberry was gone before I could blink (sadly I only got one bite, when we cut the cake). I luckily did get a slice of the carrot cake and there was only a piece or two left over at the end of the evening. Everyone loved them!! I might be biased, but they were the best cakes we had this wedding season (and we went to 7 weddings).” 💗🥰💗

Dreamy sugar flowers, palette-knife Royal Icing texture, and a pale parchment-colored fondant exterior with a “torn paper” edge for BT and Tuan. So much love went into this cake, and we were so honored to make such an important cake for a fellow Seattle wedding industry professional (the bride is a florist and owner of @emeraldcityflowers!). On the inside: Vanilla Lemon Blackberry.

For Tracy and Myrin, who eloped in the forest and fittingly chose a tree slice cake with sugar mushrooms and leaves as their wedding cake. On the inside: Gluten-free dark chocolate cake with raspberry mousseline filling.

For Isabella and Jonathan, with custom “Westminster Abbey” garden roses, lots of foliage, and Roses of Sharon (a type of hibiscus!) all handmade out of sugar. Stucco-textured buttercream exterior and three delicious flavors beneath: Vanilla Lemon Blackberry, carrot w/ cream cheese, and vanilla buttermilk cake w/ French custard buttercream and salted caramel sauce.

The most glorious sugar succulents on a simple pleated cake — a winning combo! For Courtney and Joe: vegan vanilla cake with vegan raspberry buttercream filling and vegan vanilla frosting.

We did some skills development today as a team, and @gracefulbaking & @phanny_cakes got their “official” introduction to wafer paper flowers! Here’s one of the products — a gorgeous pink gal by Grace, with a mesmerizing center buried by dozens and dozens of hand cut wafer paper petals, each one hand colored and sculpted before being assembled into a finished flower with wafer paper glue. A big thanks to my friend @astashkinacakes for expertly showing me the ropes back in 2020 when I first started getting really serious about wafer paper as an alternative medium to gumpaste for making flowers for cakes. I’ve never looked back and now I’m stoked that my whole team has these skills too!

For Kasie and Adam — dramatic drippy watercolor with equally dramatic sugar flowers (deep purple tulips, magenta garden rose, blue thistle, begonia foliage, peony bud, and pilea foliage). On the inside: Lemon cake + pink champagne buttercream + strawberry compote, and dark chocolate cake + cream cheese mousseline. ______ I’ve gotta admit, this artful gal has stolen my heart! It’s especially hard to say goodbye to certain cakes when it’s time for them to head off to their special events. 😭💜♥️💖🖤😍

Custom chocolate fondant “tree bark” finish w/ hand painted details and sugar floral accents (anemone, blue thistle, and artichoke) for Joey and Dan’s intimate wedding at @salishlodgespa. I just LOVE this combo of the sugar artichoke as a focal point with the textured bark as a backdrop! Such a good way to bring Pacific Northwest vibes to your wedding. 🌲💗🌳 _____ On the inside: Vanilla buttermilk cake with mini chocolate chips baked in, filled with cream cheese and crushed chocolate-covered coffee beans.

Cascading sugar flowers on “stucco” buttercream for a winter wedding at Stimson-Green Mansion last night. Peonies, roses, delphiniums, and rose foliage to complement the couple’s gorgeous color palette of burgundy, pale pink, and dusty blue. On the inside: Gluten-free carrot cake with cream cheese mousseline, and vanilla choc-chip cake with cream cheese mousseline.

For Nirusha’s birthday: Sugar flowers galore, molded fondant details in gold, and delicious cake underneath (Vanilla Lemon Blackberry, and Pink Champagne & Raspberry).

Three days’ worth of handmade sugar work, under the loving guidance of @maggieaustincake. I’m grateful for friendship, connection, art, beautiful surroundings, peace, encouragement, and the freedom to explore my creativity. Thanks to my workshop partner @ballerina_baker for the warm company! ____ After almost two weeks in D.C. & VA (my first vacation since before the pandemic broke loose), I’ll be heading back to Seattle tomorrow to plunge back into my work with the fullest heart. 💗

I was so happy to join Alli and Nick as they finally got to celebrate their marriage with friends and family at JM Cellars in Woodinville, WA. Alli and Nick had some of the best florals we have seen all season thanks to Lori of Flori. Everything came together beautifully for this relaxed and joyful celebration.
