For Samantha and Karl’s intimate wedding at : A “duo” of cakes in a Christmassy color palette of rich leaf green, crimson, and white, adorned with handmade sugar anemones and rose leaves. We added some subtle speckles to the white tier by kneading in a handful of toasted black sesame seeds — I just love this look. (For what it’s worth, the sesame seed trick would add lots of visual interest to any all-white multi-tiered cake!) On the inside: Earl Grey cake with lavender buttercream, and gluten-free vanilla cake with espresso buttercream.

A total labor of love for Kristina and Michael’s baby shower: Custom handmade figurines of their dogs (including teddy bear toy!), custom cartoon replicas of their truck and airstream trailer (made of Rice Krispie treats and chocolate ganache!), custom sugar baby figurine and Rice Krispie hot air balloon, finished off with piped buttercream clouds and grass details. On the inside: Vanilla buttermilk cake with French custard buttercream and salted caramel sauce, and dark chocolate cake with salted caramel buttercream and butterscotch toffee bits.

On this eve of Thanksgiving, I had the pleasure of setting up Sally and Alan’s wedding cake at the top of the Space Needle. It’s always a treat to step into the freight elevator with a bunch of cake tiers in boxes, see the twinkling lights of the city below as I ascend to the top, and finish assembling the cake on site before waving my magic wand and disappearing into the elevator again, bound for the Seattle Center loading dock! I feel like a cake fairy. I’ve been working with Sally for only a short time (fairly last-minute wedding cake order!) but it’s been a pure DELIGHT and I’m so thankful for meaningful work and enthusiastic clients to share it with. On the inside: Almond cake with chocolate ganache and sour cream frosting, and vanilla buttermilk cake with strawberry mousseline. “Aged stone” fondant exterior with handmade sugar flowers and leaves.

The couple requested our “stucco” buttercream finish on a classic three-tier, adorned with custom sugar flowers (“Westminster Abbey” roses, “Rose of Sharon”, and dark green foliage) in keeping with the romantic castle setting. On the inside: Vanilla Lemon Blackberry, Velveteen Carrot, and Crème Caramel.

I was so happy to join Alli and Nick as they finally got to celebrate their marriage with friends and family at JM Cellars in Woodinville, WA. Alli and Nick had some of the best florals we have seen all season thanks to Lori of Flori. Everything came together beautifully for this relaxed and joyful celebration.
