🧁 PAYMENT PROCESS CHANGE FOR NEW CUSTOMERS 🧁
If you are a new customer placing an order and are not someone I personally know or someone that is being referred to me by someone I know (which will be verified) all payment will be cash only - no checks, no Venmo/PayPal/Zelle, no exceptions. This applies to new customers ONLY.
Why?
Recently I've had a few new "customers" reach out to place large orders of some of my custom creations - great, right? Except they were scammers. All were from locked or blank profiles wanting to place large orders without giving any order details and demanding to pay in full using an online payment method. One profile only followed small home bakeries across the country. Another one immediately left and locked the chat when I told her that her $200 order would have to be cash only because I've had too many scammers reach out recently. Luckily I vet all new order requests very thoroughly so nothing happened, but I'm sure others have probably fallen victim thinking they were getting new business.
Baking isn't my full time gig - Whip It is my creative outlet, and I love knowing that my treats help brighten someone's day. I only take business when I know that I can give it 100% of my attention and energy. Knowing that there are people out there trying to take advantage of that sucks, but that's the problem with doing business on the interwebs. All you can do is stay vigilant. I don't make a lot from my orders, but if these scammers would have gained access to any of my accounts it would have been devastating for my family.
Will this post stop new ones from reaching out? Probably not. But I thought it was important to get it out there. If you actually read all of this, thank you. And as a thank you I'd like to offer all of my loyal, REAL customers 10% off of your next order. I am truly thankful for your business and support - and that's not a scam. ❤️ & 🧁
