2025 reminded me why I started baking in the first place, to give back. Even with fewer bakes, I was able to serve so many communities and causes that mean so much to me, all with my friends and family by my side.

From supporting RGV food pantries in February and December, helping a family in need, teaching a class for the UTRGV Student Affairs Council, and sending love to Texas A&M–Kingsville during a difficult time, to TACUSPA, Aggie Ring Day in the RGV, Halloween donations, a sweet retirement, Big Heart Orphanage in Matamoros, and Mujeres Unidas, this year was truly full of heart. Giving back through baking will always be part of who I am.

Thank you for being part of this journey, and here’s to more cookies and more love in 2026. I hope to see you at a cookie class next year!

If you’ve ever been to one of my cookie classes, you’ve probably met two very special people—my daughter, Leia, and my wonderful mom and namesake, Berta Alicia. My mom is the one behind the scenes helping set up every tray, taking photos, and capturing all the fun while I teach. These classes wouldn’t be possible without her support, and I’m so lucky you get to see her in action.

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost a year of hosting cookie classes at Nana’s Taqueria!

These classes have given me the opportunity to share my passion, connect with amazing people, support local businesses, and give back to the community I love. I plan to keep hosting them every month for as long as I can.

If you’ve ever attended a class—thank you.
