Team Eerie Elegance is still working around the clock getting everything ready for our grand opening of our Haunted Hollywood Halloween on Wednesday, unable to reply individually to all the questions coming at us from all sides. Here are answers to frequently asked questions:
Sold out? Yes, all our tickets launched Thursday at 7pm sold out in less than 3 hours! 😳
We do not know why EventBrite still shows “limited availability” when the time slot is actually sold out. That is annoying to us too!
Keep checking for tickets since as people cancel their orders as their plans change, slots will open, but they are usually snapped up quickly. Good luck!
The big question: Will we be able to add more tickets? Not sure yet since we need to find our flow on opening night first, but we will announce our decision on Thursday at noon. In previous years, additional tickets were claimed in less than an hour, so be prepared.
If you are one of the thousands who already have tickets, we will see you soon, otherwise watch Thursday at noon!

Big thanks to the few Halloween Helpers who braved the weekend heat warnings…ugh! We still have so much to finish before our Haunted Hollywood Halloween grand opening on Oct 21st, but we are getting there! Our porch pumpkins are in process, carpet & roof are on our new backyard stage, we have a new Monster in a Box ready to shake, our crypt walls have been sponged gray, movie posters have been trimmed, framed and hung, our full-size sarcophagus is almost fully-painted, we have a steel structure to support our own moon, our movie theatre marquee is looking better & better, and our Eerie Elegance usher hats are cut and ready to assemble. Now for the final push to opening! 🎃

It’s crunch time for our elaborate home haunt extravaganza, but if I don’t Halloweenify inside our Victorian home at least a little, then a part of me dies, and not in a glorious goth way. Thankfully this season I’ve been able to sneak quick decorating moments between projects, and of course my two favorite Halloween decorations have been helping! Kitties are always helpful arranging my ghoulish greenery into new arrangements, giving Skelly a bubble bath, and sewing Comfy Cobblestones for our Halloween village…but old man Obsidian has been spending more time snuggled in the village than Ember!

A security upgrade to the Eerie Elegance Estate! The previous owners of our Victorian home must have not kept dogs unsupervised in the backyard, since there was an easy escape route between our sunroom and garage. We have now closed that gap with a motorized steel gate custom-made to match the design of our front fence and gates and controlled by the same app & remotes. Thanks to L&J Ironworks for great work again!

Our Halloween Helpers have been working hard on our Haunted Hollywood Halloween painting crypt walls, building marquee light boxes, laser-cutting logos, skinning crates, building statue seats, starting painting our sarcophagus, finishing our mural, and I think we will have enough Egyptian treasures!

We carved out time in our busy home haunter schedule to attend Festival Fright Nights at Wi******er Mystery House last Friday, pulling together spooky spider style outfits themed to The Root of All Evil in less than an hour! Beware the evil vines taking over our hats topping our arsenic green Victorian Halloweenwear!
This is the second year that Festival Fright Nights has run the Wi******er haunt, and we enjoyed it more this year, even running out of time to try everything in over two hours! This year has 5 different haunts through the house and grounds, the same Houdini show as last year, a seance speakeasy with a wandering magician, an animatronic pumpkin toss game, and the Lantern Gardens all included in the VIP ticket, with fun cocktails & tasty mini apple c***r donuts extra charge of course. I would have loved to enjoy roasting s’mores at the fire pits in the front garden, but we barely made it through the last haunt right at closing time!
Our favorite haunt was Hide & Seek in the attic, since groups of only ten guests spent each scene with an excellent actor who had time for a complete performance as part of a detailed story. Be prepared to hang onto your own hats when you are required to wear hard hats for special areas…we each bonked our heads at least once so the hard hats are needed! Hope you also have a chance to enjoy Wi******er Mystery House sometime this Halloween season!

Major progress this week on our Haunted Hollywood Halloween! This season’s greenscreen filming is in the can after a long but fun filming evening! Our other Halloween Helpers have been cranking though other projects like finishing the backyard stage with walls standing, adding lovely lips on our pumpkin plants, more Mummy and WolfMan work, starting skinning crates, and lots of painting walls & Egyptian treasures!

I tried a fourth edible experiment of Monster Mask Munchies for our last NorCal Haunters meeting before Halloween…but is this the winning combination yet…?
This time I baked the same apple c***r cakelet recipe, increasing the spices yet again, and including my hand sculpted silicone Bride mold this time! After they cooled, I added a plain vanilla glaze, spooning over the bowl to keep using the glaze for the next cakes, letting them drip & dry on cooling racks. I left the cats and werewolves mostly just glazed except for teeth and eyes, but for the others I couldn’t resist painting over the glaze with ChocoWhite mixed with food coloring. There were more Brides than others because her food-grade silicone mold released perfectly without flour, so she was ready for another bake while I was still washing, drying, oiling & flouring the non-stick metal pan!
My large spider tray filled with round four of Monster Mask Munchies transported fine covered with plastic cradled safely on my lap, our fellow haunters approved of the spice level and texture, and Halloween Helpers enjoyed them the next day, appreciating the donut-like mouthfeel, but the glaze cracks off so easily ruining the painting work. The other monsters still look okay a little rough, but I was sad that the Bride’s chin & cheek chunks fell off!
I’m not completely satisfied with any of these four methods, and I am running out of time to experiment before Halloween. Since the fondant was best to paint and didn’t crack when chomping, I am wondering if I can roll the fondant thinner, lay it over the cakelet, then push together into the mold? Hmm…
