Earlier today I had a fabulous time helping to officially open up my client Hey Sugar in downtown San Diego. S Harris Communications led the media and public affairs outreach to help the sweetest bakery in San Diego as they opened for business have a successful community supportive opening. Hey Sugar is the only Black and Veteran owned storefront bakery in San Diego. We need to see more and more Black and person of colored owned businesses popping up store fronts. This past week my office People's Association of Justice Advocates - PAJ honored Hey Sugar as our small business of the week. Hey Sugar located in downtown San Diego is a bakery with some really really bomb sweets! I had the chance to stop by and chat with CEO Chan Buie about her vision for the bakery and about hurdles that she’s had to overcome in getting the shop open. I encourage everybody to go visit Hey Sugar and show them some love but most importantly get there early for the banana pudding because they run out of it fast! Hey Sugar is the only black owned store front bakery in the County of San Diego and is also veteran owned. They are open Tues. - Sat. and located at 101 Park Plaza Unit 102 San Diego, CA 92101
Throughout her 20-year Navy career, Chan Buie ran a home-based baking business from her San Diego home that specialized in the down-home Southern treats she grew up on, like peach cobbler and red velvet cake.
