4 years ago (yesterday)… our wedding day. 🤍
We had been together 7 years already. There were a few reasons we waited… we both needed time to work on our mental health and grow together; diet culture ruled my life and I was terrified to be fat in my wedding photos; and someone (ehem, me) needed to trust that I was worth choosing to marry. But most of all we waited because we had a family member who was important to us that we risked severing a relationship with if they knew we were more than roommates. After that person passed away, we were ready.
It’s easy to say, “Who cares, just do it, get married!” “F**k the homophobes, why let them win?” It’s not that simple when you try to love others in return, up-close. There’s no drama or tea here. We made that decision with intention for us and we couldn’t be more proud of our love story.
If you know us well, you know we fight hard and love harder, that’s what happens when two opinionated, strong women fall in love. 6/4/22 was the best day of my life because of HER.
Happy Pride Month, friends! Live out loud in ways that feel comfy, when you’re ready to. 💚🩵💙💜🩷❤️🧡💛 In the meantime, know that this kind of love is possible for you too.
