We extend our congratulations to Lilly Swartout, the recipient of the 2026 Mary Earle Berger Chi Chapter Scholarship. Lilly is graduating from Person Early College for Innovation and Leadership this spring and will be attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the fall, where she will pursue a degree in Elementary Education. We wish Lilly continued success in her academic and professional pursuits and look forward to following her progress at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

🎨✨ Arts in Our Schools Month Instructor Spotlight ✨🎭

Person County Schools is proud to celebrate the educators who inspire creativity and self-expression through the arts. Today we’re highlighting Kim Solomon, Cultural Arts Teacher at Oak Lane Elementary School!

With 21 years in education, Ms. Solomon has spent the past five years at Oak Lane Elementary helping students explore art, music, creativity, and self-expression through engaging and imaginative lessons. Her classroom is a place where students are encouraged to think creatively, try new things, and discover the joy that the arts can bring to learning.

Ms. Solomon is a National Board Certified teacher and has been recognized for her dedication to students and her school community. She has been selected Teacher of the Year at the school level multiple times, and in 2022 she was honored as the Roxboro Jaycees Outstanding Young Educator of the Year.

Known for her energetic spirit, Ms. Solomon loves bringing imagination into the classroom in ways that make learning both fun and memorable. She strives each day to bring a joyful attitude to the school building and believes strongly in the healing power of a smile.

Thank you, Ms. Solomon, for sharing your creativity and enthusiasm with Oak Lane students and for helping them discover the many ways the arts can brighten their world! 🌈🎨
