I LOVE when you ask me to help with your surprises!
Joe and Sue planned an Alaskan cruise with their kids and grandkids and wanted a fun way to reveal it to them. Cue the cookies!
I ordered some windowless boxes to keep it a true surprise until they opened it. To add to the anticipation, I created a post card in Canva that hinted at the trip but didn’t give it away. Joe and Sue were free to add a personal message on the back, a little keepsake when all the cookies are gone. 😊
Many people ask me how long it takes me to make cookies and my answer is usually 8-12 hours from dough to done, but sometimes it’s more. For this order of 36 cookies I spent over 9 hours decorating them. Yep, just decorating. 👀
Why so long? Most of these designs were done on plaque shapes, meaning each cookie needed a fully flooded and crusted over background before I could ice my design. Add in airbrushing, a lot of painting details, and bit of trial and error (those ocean waves 😅), and the time adds up quickly. That 9 hours doesn’t include planning, making dough, cutting and baking, making icing and mixing colors, taking photos, or packaging.
When I say custom decorated treats are a labor of love, I mean it!
If you missed my reel of these be sure to check it out!
