Rush of Sweetness Bakery

One of my best friends is leaving Rochester, and she had one request before she goes:

“Teach me how to make cakes so I can continue making special cakes for my babies on their birthdays.” 🩷

And the answer was, of course, YES.

Because honestly, this is one of the biggest reasons I love teaching people how to decorate cakes. Never underestimate the power of a homemade sweet made especially for someone you love. It doesn’t have to be perfect—it’s the time, effort, and love behind it that makes someone feel extra special. 🩷

And Molly did a PHENOMENAL job! We made these cozy “Sweater Weather” cakes topped with some Trader Joe’s finds—dried flowers, cinnamon sticks, and orange slices. 🍂🍊

Molly and I met in Texas as young Pathologists’ Assistants and were absolutely elated when we found out we had both been hired as PAs at Mayo Clinic Rochester in 2018.

We came to Rochester as two single ladies, and somehow, over the last eight years, we met our husbands around the same time, got married around the same time, started having babies around the same time, and really just grew up together. 🥹

The older I get, the more I realize just how special and rare friendships like that are. To have someone beside you through so many different chapters of life is something I’ll never take for granted.

Rochester truly won’t be the same without you, Molly. 🩷 But at least I can send you off knowing those babies are going to have some pretty awesome birthday cakes. 🎂🥹
