I have been dying to share this freaking gorgeous cake!! Definitely made it into my top favorite cakes 🤗 They asked for s’mores, burgundy ombré, and gold. I think it delivered! Then I couldn’t stop painting gold on everything- the chocolate bars, grahams, etc- but I think that took it right over the top 🍫🔥🍰

I was terrible about posting my cakes during maternity leave- whoops! This was the last cake I did before I had my baby girl, and the whimsical pink & butterflies felt so perfect! The butterflies are super thin edible paper, perfect for a little girl’s fairy party! 🦋💕🧚♀️

Okay so I’m a little late posting my gothic Halloween cake, but it’s so pretty that I think it makes up for it!! This was a totally new aesthetic for me and I loved it!! Painting the teeth of the skulls with gold luster dust give it an extra bit of zing, don’t you think? ✨ By the way, this black buttercream will not stain your teeth or taste like dye!! It’s a dark chocolate buttercream colored with BLACK cocoa powder, and just a few drops of coloring like any other cake! Thanks for the tip !!

If you’ve noticed it’s been a little quieter over here than normal, this is why! I’ve had to take a little step back from baking and slow things way down because guess what my BIGGEST food aversion has been so far? BUTTERCREAM 😭😭 It has made things tricky over here for sure, but thankfully I’ve been able to accommodate my orders and I’ve been feeling better lately!
This little girl is due at the beginning of March, which means I’ll be taking the spring season off from baking! I’m sad for all the events I’ll be missing, but it’s a necessary break for me and my family. ✨I will be temporarily closing my orders for MaddCooking from February- May 2022 for maternity leave ✨ I have lots of cake content saved up, so I’ll still be posting throughout my leave!

Smash cakes might be my new favorite thing to bake!! This tiny Elmo one was for a sweet neighbor’s little one year old, and I am in love with how it turned out! 🧡💗🧡 I think I’ll keep doing those double rope borders too- such a fun way to top a cake! Don’t forget to also order some coordinating cupcakes, so the fam doesn’t have to eat baby-smashed cake too! 🍰
What is happier than donuts on a cake?? Really, I’ll wait 🍩 I’m so happy I got to make another donut cake for another cute birthday girl who LOVES pink and purple! 💗💜 I make my own baked donuts and glaze, and this cake was classic vanilla with chocolate ganache inside. Yum!!
Today is my amazing, cookie-loving husband’s birthday!! It’s also been exactly 1 year since I made my first “professionally” successful cake! The rainbow chip one was 9/7/2020, and the chocolate chip cookie one I made for him today. The next slide is the literal first cake I made in May 2020- Oreo chocolate- that made me realize that I wanted to try this cake thing! The candy Twix one beside it was made this past June for comparison.
It’s kind of crazy to see how far I’ve come in a year, and I am overwhelmed and grateful to all of my family, friends, and clients who have believed in my work enough to help me get here! I have loved finding this new passion, and I’ll be forever grateful for the support it has been to my little family also.

Found this fun cake in my archives!! It was for a cute girl’s 6th birthday who loves Lego Friends! Not gonna lie, I had to google what “lego friends” were haha, and then it was fun to use their colors as inspiration for this girly cake!! Any time I get to add a cakesicle and rock candy to a cake is a great time 💗💗
This pastel gender reveal cake was SO much fun to make!! I haven’t worked with pastels much, but this cake has converted me 😍 The parents wanted the middle layer to be colored the gender, and the filling to be blueberry/strawberry to match as well. Turns out, it was a BLUE vanilla bean cake with blueberry filling, with the cutest macaron accents!! I molded white chocolate to make the top decor, and used coloring to get these gorgeous pastels!

I’m Maddy, the “Madd” behind Madd Cooking!
I have an amazing hubby named Nick, who is the funniest and most amazing guy. We’ve been married 5.5 years, and I am the luckiest to have him. We have the cutest and wildest two year old named Houston, who keeps us on our toes and lights up our whole world! ☀️
My first professional passion was teaching, and I taught fourth grade for four years in Utah after attending BYU. The organized, sassy, control freak in me absolutely loved teaching, and I do think one day I’d like to go back to the classroom 🍎
But, I have always loved baking! 🍰 I started following some amazing baker IG accounts about two years ago (like and ) and I slowly started practicing making birthday cakes for my friends and family until I had a pretty good idea that I LOVED decorating cakes!
When Covid hit, my little family was some of the unfortunate ones who lost our job, so we took that opportunity to move back home (home to me) to Texas where we always hoped we’d end up. That is what honestly started Madd Cooking! I started making cocoa bombs last Christmas, and was blessed with so much networking from my family and friends down here that soon I started getting requests for commissioning cakes! From there things really just took off, and I still can’t believe how far it’s come! This little baking business I had started got my family through the hardships of unemployment for a while, and I’ll be forever grateful that I took a chance on a growing passion, and to all of my amazing customers who choose me to bake for them 🍰💗
So there you have it! A little bit about me! This has quite literally been the craziest and hardest year of my life, but it’s becoming one of the most exciting and rewarding also! Thanks for taking the time to read, and to be here for this crazy cake journey 😘
It feels like a pink donut kind of a Monday over here 💗🍩💗🍩 This adorable cake was for an even cuter little girl’s birthday, and I love how it turned out!! I got to make donuts for the first time, that teal stripe came together pretty easily, and I’m in love with the sprinkles! What a happy cake 😍

Textured. Buttercream. I am utterly in love with this cake!! I honestly almost cried after photographing it, realizing that I really did have to give it away. Thankfully, this was for the sweetest anniversary party of a very deserving couple, and I think I captured the romance well with these gorgeous peonies from . Inside was a vanilla bean sponge with lemon curd filling. Just as delicious as beautiful! 🤩
Where are my Animal Crossing fans?? This cute cake was for an animal crossing super fan, and I was told he loved it!! I had a lot of fun creating a “younger” cake with fun colors too! The characters are actually vinyl stickers, which was a fun way to send home a little prize with the cake too 😊
Question of the morning- should I start making pies now?! I made this banana cream pie for a friend, all the while telling myself I wasn’t gonna add pies to my menu.. yet here I am totally in love with that piped whipped cream!! 🤩

This two tier naked wedding cake has me *almost* wanting to plan another wedding!! 😍
This bride wanted a naked cake with gold foil accents on the edges, and her florist made a beautiful floral arrangement topper for it! And then talk about a small world- this bride is someone I grew up with as a child, and she married someone I met at a church youth camp! And then her sister found my cake page and gave me this gorgeous opportunity to make these cakes! Just one of the many reasons I’m happy I moved back home to Texas 💗
This wedding cake is 4 layers of vanilla cake & vanilla buttercream at the base, and 4 layers of lemon cake with lemon curd on top. This was two weeks ago, and I’m still staring at it 💗💗
This is the most gorgeous Twix candy cake I’ve ever seen 😍 This was actually a grooms cake for a wedding I baked for a few weeks ago, and I was told it was devoured very quickly! The wedding cake will come next- I’m so excited to share it with y’all!!
The groom loved Twix, so I made a chocolate cake with cream cheese buttercream, crushed shortbread cookie crumbs, and caramel filling! Topped with a salted caramel ganache drip, lots of Twix and other candies. This one has a piece of my chocolate heart 🤎

The Mickey-est cake for my own Mickey- obsessed little guy 😍❤️❤️ It is a chocolate Oreo cake, with Mickey sugar cookies, gum balls, Oreos, and rock candies!

Graduation season has been a busy one over here, and this was the most special cake order I had because it was for my baby sister’s high school graduation! She wanted confetti cake with raspberry filling, and I even managed a fondant grad hat to match 🍰 Congrats Lilly Lou!! You’re going to do amazing things in college!! 💗
I can’t wait any longer to share this gorgeous mermaid cake I had the opportunity to make last week!! 😍🧜🏻♀️ This was for a little girl who loves mermaids and gold. I molded white chocolate for the shells and tails, and painted them gold with paint made of gold luster dust and lemon extract. It was so much fun!
