A family favorite I learned from my sweet fun Uncle, a delicious enchilada recipe that’s simple to make and full of flavor!
I feel so grateful to come from a family of amazing cooks who’ve shared their love and recipes with me my whole life. My mom was always in the kitchen making meals for us, and my dad taught me so many amazing dishes passed down from my abuelita and abuelito, each one with its own story! I love listening to my dad’s life stories 🤍
My Meme (my moms, mom) inspired my love for baking she always kept her cookie jar full and had this beautiful wooden platter with a glass top that sat on her kitchen table, always filled with sweets. When she passed away a few years ago she left it to me. When I see it now, I’m reminded of the warmth of her kitchen and all the fun memories of baking with her.
Growing up, my mom cooked dinner for us every night, and we always sat down as a family. Those moments mean everything to me and are a big part of why I love keeping that tradition alive. She’s been the main reason why I love to cook. So many wonderful memories learning and watching her in the kitchen. She worked a full time job, ran us around everywhere for school events and still managed to find time to put a yummy meal on the table every night. My salsa that sells out every time I decide to jar it up, I learned from my mom!
I am very close with my family. So close that My parents bought land many years ago, and my dad with his own hands, built 3 beautiful homes for all of us. It’s been such a wonderful thing to have my family so close. We call it “The Compound,” and it’s truly the heart of our family. We are always together. In the evenings we are free, my sister and I walk over and meet up at my parents patio (the center of our 3 houses) and sit outside drinking coffee catching up on our day. When our schedules allow, we gather for Sunday breakfasts at Mom’s house my sister and I help her cook a big meal, send out a text, and everyone comes together to eat, laugh, and just be together as a family.
As I’ve said so many times my Family is everything to me, and these shared meals are my favorite way to keep our love and traditions alive 🤍
