This is probably the most bittersweet post I’ve ever made… Brian and I have decided it’s time to close shop on Sister Act… I’ve been experiencing some health challenges that I’m still working to find answers for… It’s had its challenging moments… Couple that with Sister Act not finding her wings here, it’s just time… It’s been 11 years… 11 AMAZING years… So many of my customers I’ve laughed with, cried with and shared a special friendship that will always be in my heart and I’ll cherish forever… Some of you have pushed me beyond my abilities and helped me to grow, like a Canada goose cake when I thought the picture was a real cake not a decoy!!! I can’t believe the support that kept me going… The day my dad passed away, I had a delivery at the base and when I told her I needed to be early, she was willing to take the delivery whenever that day… Order after order during the busy seasons had me up early in the morning and up until the wee hours of the night to make sure I took care of everyone who needed me… I had the special opportunities to share in weddings and equally special moments to mourn with others… I still giggle when I go back and see the pictures of when I first started… before I went to school… Starting out with a bookshelf full of tools thinking Sister Act was getting serious!!! Orders for gender reveals and new babies… All the cakes for the little ones and to see the excitement on their faces… Brian coming home after one delivery telling me he finally understood why I love what I do… When he delivered a birthday cake for a sweet little girl, all sparkling and fun, she threw her arms around him and told him how much she loved her cake and loved him!!! The customers who came back year after year, event after event trusting me to take care of them… The joy, the fun, the stress and anxiety, the opportunity to grow and become better at what I did… ALL.OF.IT… How I’ve missed you, how I’ve missed doing what I’ve loved most… What a journey… What a wild, crazy, fun, emotional journey… THANK YOU for taking it with me… Thank you for giving Brian the chance to be such a wonderful delivery guy… He loved it and took pride in doing that… We love you… This page will be up for a very short time before I delete it… I don’t do social media otherwise so if any of you would like my email address or cell number to stay in contact, let me know… I’ll give you heads up the day before I permanently delete this page… sometime this week though… Again, thank you for the journey… We love you…

UPDATE: We have a new machine coming!!! Although we had a circuit to accomodate it, today we have an electrician here to wire a dedicated circuit to eliminate any questions or concerns… HOWEVER, it’ll be 2 weeks before the machine is here… At least we’re moving in the right direction!!! Stay tuned!!!

We have a delay of game here for the giveaway I had wanted to do this weekend… Our BRAND NEW freeze dryer is throwing a breaker and I’ve been working with Harvest Right since Tues. trying to get the issue resolved… I’m still waiting!!! Baking has been under way for carrot cake and banana cake so I can see how that turns out… Stay tuned all the same… I do have a cookie order going out soon for a graduation… Have an amazing weekend and I’ll update when I have one…

An absolute success!!! Next time I’ll swirl the buttercream over the entire top. I was playing it safe as I had concerns the buttercream would make a mess during drying. I wasn’t sure what to expect but they are beautiful!!! Now onto carrot cake, banana cake and cookies. I’m BEYOND excited!!! The second picture is after. I had to taste test them!!! And just for texture context, They’re CRUNCHY!!! When you think of Sister Act cakes, they’re very very moist… Freeze drying removes water… NEXT weekend, I’m going to do a giveaway with these… This will give you an opportunity to try them and see what you think and then post feedback for me!!! Stay tuned, things are a changin’!!!

It’s been quite awhile since I’ve updated all of you on Sister Act… We relocated to Rexburg in 2023 and had Sister Act up and running nearly a year ago… This has been a tough market and I’ve contemplated many many times whether it’s time to say goodbye to this sweet business I started 11 years ago… I’ve been in sit and wait mode as I’ve searched for a decision… WELLLLLLL, HAPPY NEWS! I believe the answers have come! As most of you know, freeze dried food has become the craze… EVERYBODY does skittles and a variety of other candy and fruits… I’ve decided to give it a twist… This is where freeze drying meets Sister Act… As I write, my freeze dryer is going through its initial bread run to make sure the machine is working properly… This time tomorrow I need to do the fruit I bought while it’s fresh… THEN, I’m going to experiment with cake, filling and buttercream bites! All your favorite combinations coming to life freeze dried style!!! Once I make sure the standard flavors work, I’m going to try carrot cake, banana cake, peanut butter cookies, my version of banana pudding, and my fruit crunch… As discouraged as I’ve felt since the beginning of the year, this is overly exciting!!! This new product line will ship AND keep!!! The door will stay open to all the things Sister Act has done, however, this will open a new door that may bring Sister Act back to the places I’ve been… Stay tuned as I should have some pictures and feedback for you this week!!! Wish me luck!!!

My youngest son teaches high school and was over the mock trial team. His kids, 22 of them, worked hard but lost at semi finals. This was the best the team had ever done. I was proud of them for John. I wanted to do something for them so I designed these. They’ll ship today.

Our story starts with an old storage room and a dream. It was one of those times when the dream seemed too big and the possibilities too far out of reach. And yet, the feeling persisted and slowly things began to unfold. With the passing of my father in law and the Alzheimer’s diagnosis of my mother in law, we knew I needed to be at home. It’s been 4 years of heartfelt dedication, school, hard work and most of all love to be where we are. My husband Brian, encouraged me to dream and then backed it up with all the resources I both needed and wanted. He’s become well acquainted with the bakeshop language and is willing to step in and help any way he can. Everything I do is driven by the desire to make my customers happy. I use quality ingredients to offer amazing cakes, cupcakes, cookies and more. I’ve been overwhelmed with such wonderful customers and am reminded daily how I own the best corner of the world!!!
