Hi Hereford community!
Just a side note here from your local sourdough dealer!
I spend a lot of my free time brainstorming and looking up new recipes to bring to Wilson Dairy Farm every week, but the state of Maryland is very strict on what cottage bakers are allowed to offer.
Do I want to be able to use cream cheese icing to decorate cookies and cakes? Absolutely.
Would I love to offer sourdough waffles topped with chocolate and fruit? Absolutely.
Unfortunately, both of those are not allowed under Maryland cottage food law. These laws are put in place to keep our loyal customers safe, and our businesses running smoothly. While most cottage food bakers do not agree with the laws, we must follow them. Any cottage food baker that is offering any of the items below on their baked goods are unfortunately not following cottage food law and risk having their business shut down. I love my small business and I am not willing to take that chance.
