✨🎄 Christmas Baking Project! 🎄✨

We finally tried Martha Stewart’s Christmas wreath pavlova, and I think this might be my new favorite holiday dessert. Light, crisp, marshmallowy in the center….and absolutely show-stopping on the table!

I decorated ours with whipped cream, sugared cranberries, and a little rosemary to look like winter greenery. The cranberries add the perfect pop of tartness against the sweet pavlova, and the whole thing feels like something straight out of a holiday magazine.

What I love most is how simple it actually is to make. A few egg whites, sugar, and a little patience in the oven turn into this beautiful, cloud-like wreath. It’s festive, it’s elegant, and it’s one of those desserts that makes everyone stop and say, “Wait… you made that?” 😄

If you’re looking for a centerpiece dessert for Christmas Eve or a holiday party, this one is definitely worth trying. I’ll drop the recipe in the comments for anyone who wants it! ⬇️

My sweet husband of 13 years, our two incredible daughters, and I walked on over and dropped off this extra special Bundt as a gift for a very kind neighbor recovering from hip surgery. Get well soon! 💐

Little moments like this serve to remind me that despite having our very own escalator at the Macy’s in The Mount Shasta Mall (remember what a big deal that was when it first happened? 😅) Redding at its core is really still just a small town, full of kind people- supporting each other as best they can.

Our family genuinely loves any opportunity to pay that forward whenever we can in our incredible community- and this week, we encourage our followers to follow suit by trying to do a little, “something sweet” for their neighbors as well!

🪩🕺 A Slice of Shasta County History… with a Splash of 1970s Fun! 🪩🕺

Every now and then, something lands in my inbox that just feels like home. This week, longtime local and cherished follower Bonnie Mason shared a treasured family recipe passed down from her mother-in-law, the incomparable Lorraine Mason—and it’s a true Shasta County original (created by Mickie Titoni)!

The recipe comes from a wonderfully nostalgic local cookbook with an equally charming name:
“A Treasury of Kitchen Know How and Outstanding Recipes from the Great Cooks of Shasta, Siskiyou & Trinity Counties.”
Inside its pages? A quirky, delightful Bundt recipe called: The Harvey Wallbanger Cake!

Now… if you’re wondering “Who in the heck is Harvey Wallbanger?”

Here’s the fun part:
He’s no one!
Well—no one real, anyway.
Harvey Wallbanger was a fictional, slightly wobbly California surfer dreamed up by a 1970s marketing team to promote the bright, citrusy cocktail made with orange juice, vodka, and Galliano. Legend has it he drank so much of the stuff he kept “banging into walls.” (Marketing in the 70s was truly unmatched.) 🌊🏄😅

That playful spirit lives on in the cake version, which famously instructs the baker to:
🍹 “Make two drinks: one for you, and one for the cake!”

Bonnie, thank you from the bottom of my Bundt-loving heart for trusting us with this piece of Lorraine’s legacy. Recipes like this remind us that baking is more than ingredients: it’s memories, stories, and the joy of passing something good along!
