Hi everyone
I wanted to share another update with everyone on the status of Cake Deliberately. If I know you well, had the pleasure to meet you in person and chat or you’ve just read my bio on my website, you know that my life is centered around my wife and our children. Our children just happen to be the ones with four paws. This past year has been by far the hardest one we’ve endured in our 12 years together, as we lost our boys back to back in the span of two months. Archie & Jamey both had tremendously challenging conditions that took a huge tole on us mentally and physically, and their loss is profound. We feel like a wrecking ball has crashed through our family and we’re left to pick up the pieces that remain the best we can. We’ve had many conversations on what we need to do for our family to heal, and right now that looks like taking care of ourselves, each other, and Ellie. (And the cats, but they’re pretty resilient 🙂)
Initially we decided on a short sabbatical, but it’s become clear that we need to make space for healing without distractions or added stress. As much as I love making cakes, there’s no denying that it involves late nights, tons of planning, and lots of stress. We are pausing the business indefinitely for all orders going forward, including weddings. I wanted to get the word out because I continue to get inquiries daily, and as sad as I am to say no, I know this is what my family needs. My website has come down, but my social media pages will remain. I am allowing myself to not put a timeline on when I will return to taking orders. For now, we will move into this next chapter of our lives and do our best to move on. Archie & Jamey are never far from our minds, and we will always cherish them and their place in our family.
* Please note, for the very few weddings already booked for 2024, those will continue as planned, as well as my weekly cake at Tavern 305 in Winthrop.
