Hi everyone! I wanted to share a little about why I started Opal Bakehouse.
Opal Bakehouse has been a seed planted in my heart for many years.
My love language is giving, and one thing that has always stayed with me is the care my mom and grandma took to make sure I felt included in every celebration growing up.
As I got older, finding cakes and cupcakes that were safe for my severe egg allergy became incredibly frustrating. Many bakeries weren’t able to accommodate my allergy needs, which I completely understood. Food allergies carry a lot of responsibility, and I have always appreciated bakers who put safety first.
When vegan desserts became more common, I was excited to finally have options, but they often weren’t quite what I was looking for because I still wanted the richness that comes from dairy.
During my own wedding planning process, I reached out to several talented bakers. While some weren’t able to take on an allergy-sensitive order, I was fortunate to find a baker who did and absolutely knocked it out of the park. That experience reminded me just how meaningful it is to feel included on such an important day.
Years later, after plenty of encouragement from family and friends, I decided to share my desserts with others.
My hope is that every child, every adult, and every family navigating food allergies can feel included in life’s sweetest moments.
