Sunflowers are blooming and I spotted this gal stuffing her face full of nectar and pollen. You can see her proboscis (tongue) sticking out to drink up the nectar. She’s also covered in yellow sunflower pollen which will cross pollinate to the female parts of the sunflower which will result in sunflower seeds! 🌻

It’s a great start of the season for Dean’s Tennessee honey. I’m very honored and proud to say my honey won the 1st place blue ribbon at our local honey tasting contest Gallatin Farmers Market yesterday! Also sold my first 1lb jar of honey. Thank you to Roast & Brews for gifting me their delicious coffee and for ChickenBerry Hill Farm for the loaf of bread (which I ate before I remembered to take a picture of it.)
I’ll be extracting and bottling honey this week. Working on designing and building a farm stand. Stay tuned for more apiary updates! 🐝🐝🐝
