A Multi-Generational Story Of Sweet Secrets
Kevin Ford, the founder of Tell Me Something Sweet, was born into a family legacy of cooking and baking as a way of showing love and hospitality not only to family members but also to the community. His earliest memories are filled with wonderful smells coming from the kitchen as various dishes and desserts were made from scratch for large family events

or Sunday dinners. We use real ingredients like butter, sugar, eggs, and flour! And of course, we always add a pinch of love to make it taste just right. Every bite will melt in your mouth the way it should!

It’s going to be a busy weekend in the Downtown Plano Arts District. We’re bringing back Watusi World for a concert in McCall Plaza Saturday night beginning at 8pm!

We’ve also got karaoke tonight (Friday) at 7:30pm, Mocktails & Mimosas tomorrow (Saturday) from 11am-3pm, and yoga led by Shala Yoga Loft in McCall Plaza on the Labor Day holiday Monday at 9:30am. And all of our events this weekend are free, so come on by.

Such exciting news! This weekend we are partnering with and to raise funds for their awesome commitment to assist young adults who age out of the foster care system become self-sufficient.

With the homes they provide a safe living environment, equip residents with life skills, foster educational and career advancement, and build a network of support around them through mentors and individual coaching.

From September 1-3, we will donate 15% of our sales to the homes! So stop by, pick up something sweet for the last holiday of the summer and help us support this awesome organization.

Well, it’s officially August and it’s Black Business Month! Every day this month we will highlight a black-owned business on our social media pages. If you would like to be highlighted or would like us to bring awareness to a black-owned business please send us a DM.

Little known facts about black-owned businesses and why you should support them:

1. There are more than 2 million Black-owned businesses in the United States.
2. Black-owned businesses generated $150.2 billion in gross revenue as recently as 2012.
3. 70% of Black business owners are happy with their business.
4. 34% of Black business owners start their businesses because they want to be their own bosses
5. 44% of Black business owners use their own cash to start their venture.
6. Black business owners receive less business financing, less often, and at higher rates.
7. 37.9% of Black business owners say they are “discouraged” from applying for loans.
8. Only 18% of Black business owners report receiving assistance from loan officers in completing business loan applications.
9. Just 1% of Black business owners obtain business loans in their first year.
10. The average level of startup capital for Black entrepreneurs is just $35,205.

This month make efforts to purchase from a black-owned business, donate to a black-owned nonprofit organization or choose a black-owned business as a supplier.

We will be open on the 4th of July from 10am - 4pm so stop by and pick up your holiday desserts!

We will then join the City of Plano at its All American 4th festival at the north side of the Collin College parking lot - 2800 E. Spring Creek Pkwy. The festival opens at 6 pm.

This is a free, family-friendly event open to the public. Come enjoy the free kid zone sponsored by Champion Energy Services, a parade by Rotary Parades of Plano, and a spectacular fireworks show.

We will have Strawberry Shortcake, Banana Pudding, Key Lime cups, lemon and pecan bars and more!
