“Do what you can with what you have today.”

When was still a dream and I was Ubering on the side to get it off the ground I wrote that message on my mirror. It was a reminder at the time that developed into a mantra.

Before I started Crown Coffee, I had all kinds of excuses and fears as to why I couldn’t start a business — money, know-how, time, etc. Then, before I knew it, we were up and running joining the greatest hosts of businesses that began in a garage.

I was proud of what I built but not where I built it. When people would ask where I roast I’d be reluctant to answer, but that has changed.

This picture (this entire shoot for that matter) is a step in a better direction. It’s the heartbeat of Crown, really. I’ve always wanted Crown to motivate and fuel people like me who have a vision to grind for it. To link arms along the way and realize the journey is as beautiful as the destination.

So whether you have an office in a prime location, working out of a common desk, or hustling in your own living room—

The royal way isn’t a building, it’s a grind 🤴🏾👸🏾

Our newest offering — Marcala, Honduras — goes far .

This harvest was produced by a collective of 77 women who are beating the odds together.

“One of the reasons the cooperative is determined to market its women members' coffee is that 60 percent of the women face gender-based legal issues with regards to the ownership of their land, as well as limitations to the credit they can receive to finance the harvest every year. In addition to the program premiums these women receive for this lot, Cooperativa RAOS has many very active educational support programs open to all members. Gender assemblies are held by female members in order to discuss the women's needs, as well as ways of increasing equity within the group and community.”
