Our first limited-release red wine is officially available to the public.

Created to complement the same philosophy behind everything we do at Serpico’s Bread Co.—craftsmanship, patience, family, and the belief that great food and wine bring people together.

Whether you’re pairing it with pizza, pasta, grilled meats, or simply sharing a bottle with friends, SECOND ACT was made to be enjoyed around the table.

Most pizzerias use one master dough.

At our Pizza Tasting Residency in Hicksville, I make 8 completely different regional pizza doughs… paired with 8 carefully curated wines inside an actual working winery.

Roman. Neapolitan. New Haven. Sicilian. Alla Pala. Chicago and more.

Including pours of Second Act — a wine my family and I produce together.

This isn’t a pizza night.
It’s a guided tasting experience built around dough, fermentation, wine, and storytelling.

I got rejected everywhere.

Record labels. Booking agencies. Music companies.

By August of 1990, my friends all had jobs. I was playing trumpet in a wedding band on weekends wondering what the hell I was going to do with my life.

Then one company called me back because the person they hired instead of me quit.

That single moment changed everything.

A jazz trumpet major became a booking agent.
A booking agent became a comedy manager.
A comedy manager became a tour manager.
A tour manager became a television producer.
A television producer became a bread baker.

This week’s MONDAY ESSAY is about rejection, reinvention, Denis Leary, Adam Sandler, Hollywood, sourdough, and how almost none of the meaningful parts of my career were planned.
