Spring is finally here! (I think. I hope.)
It’s the time for beginnings, new growth, fresh starts. It feels like the perfect time to officially announce my new partnership with two amazing and accomplished women, Chloe Newman of Crustworthy (https://crustworthypgh.com) (if you haven’t already tried her sourdough breads, get yourself down to the Saturday Bloomfield market (https://bloomfieldpgh.org/bloomfield-saturday-market/) and do so—you won’t be disappointed) and Beth Taylor, who is a food writer, culinary tour leader, educator, and my fellow Luminari Camp Delicious (https://www.luminari.org/camp-delicious-online/) director. For the past 6 months, we have met weekly to develop Third Space Bakery (https://www.facebook.com/thirdspacebakery/) , a worker-owned cooperative bakery and teaching space.
Why “Third Space”? Third spaces are the necessary places outside of home and work that offer a healthy union of self and community. Our goal is to create a space where everyone feels welcome and nurtured with delicious breads and pastries, and a place where people can come together to learn and grow. Food brings people together in the best way! And operating as a cooperative, we will create a more equitable workspace where every worker has a vote and a voice.
Because starting up a new business requires A LOT of time and energy, I’ve realized I need to pause Le Beau Gâteau (don’t worry, if you’ve already put in an order, I got you). This little business is near and dear to my heart, and has served me in so many ways, not least of all connecting me with you. You are why I bake—it is immensely gratifying to give people joy through something I’ve created. Much of what you’ve ordered through Le Beau Gâteau will be available at Third Space, but there’ll be so, so much more. I ask for your patience and understanding as we build this dream. In the meantime, you can expect periodic updates on where we’ll be popping up around the city with baked goods and workshops, and on the development of Third Space (we are actively searching for the perfect location, send your leads our way). I’m so excited to have a place where I can see your beautiful faces that’s a bit nicer than a parking lot :)

You’ll notice the pastry box is a collaboration with Crustworthy—we wanted you to have a little taste of what’s to come. Thank you for all your support over the last couple of years, you gave me faith that I can do this.
