The gut contains a communal of microorganisms which collectively, is known and called the gut "microbiome". The positive microbes in our gut thrive on fibre and diversity, and this helps to regulate and support our immune system, which in turn promotes and supports health. The bread I choose to make and eat provides a major opportunity to deliver fibre to our microbial allies. And given the percentage of calories we typically eat each day as bread, that's pretty darn important! All of my baked goods are naturally leavened with sourdough. Therefore, commercial yeast isn't utilized. My primary goal is to provide ministry through baking. In doing such, I am convicted to use organic & sustainable methods. This includes natural fermentation and purchasing out grain, eggs, and milk locally, and of the highest quality.

Hi Arizona + Knoxville friends!
I figured it was time for a little introduction/reintroduction post since life has been a little wild lately 😅

My name is Carson, and I’m the owner + baker behind Sovereign Sourdough. My family and I recently made the move to the Phoenix area, and we’re so incredibly grateful to now call Arizona home. 🌵☀️

I’m a wife, mama to four girls, homeschool mom, former professional dancer, published author, sourdough educator, and passionate baker with a heart for real food, intentional living, and serving others through what I create.

What started as a simple love for baking slowly turned into something so much deeper — a ministry rooted in nourishment, hospitality, community, and faith. 🤎

Every loaf I make is naturally leavened and crafted slowly, by hand, using traditional fermentation methods and high-quality ingredients whenever possible. I care deeply about wellness, gut health, sustainability, and helping bring people back to the beauty of simple, wholesome food.

One thing that makes Sovereign Sourdough especially unique is our insanely 🔥 loyal gluten-free customer base 🔥. Through our long fermentation process and ingredient standards, so many people who previously struggled with bread have found they can actually enjoy ours comfortably again — which honestly never stops amazing me.

We’ve also been tested and marked as celiac safe, which has been such an incredible blessing and testimony in itself. 🤍

Beyond baking, I also offer sourdough classes where I teach others how to confidently make and understand traditional sourdough at home. I’m also a published author sharing my sourdough methods, recipes, and practices to help make nourishing food approachable for everyday families. 🥖

During our time in Knoxville, you could find Sovereign Sourdough products in local coffee shops, grocery stores, farmers markets, and homes all across the community — something I’ll forever be grateful for. Watching this little business grow the way it has has truly been one of the greatest blessings of my life.

At Sovereign Sourdough, my prayer is that what I bake brings more than nourishment to your table — I hope it brings comfort, connection, and points hearts back to the goodness of God.

Join us each Tuesday evening from 4:00PM–7:00PM for the Knoxville sourdough bread drop from Sovereign Sourdough at the Hardin Valley Event Center.

Even though our family has moved to Arizona, my heart for serving the Knoxville community hasn’t changed — especially when it comes to my gluten-free customers. Sovereign Sourdough was built on the belief that nourishing food matters, ingredients matter, and families deserve bread they can feel good about eating. I remain deeply passionate about creating high-quality, thoughtfully crafted gluten-free sourdough options made with care, integrity, and wholesome ingredients.

At Sovereign Sourdough, every loaf represents more than just bread. It represents intentional living, slow fermentation, traditional methods, and a commitment to providing nourishing foods for families who value quality. From long-fermented sourdough to gluten-free offerings, my goal has always been to serve this community with products that are handcrafted, honest, and rooted in wellness.

To continue making weekly Knoxville pickups possible, I’ve partnered with Dale Akins locally to help serve the Knoxville community and ensure these weekly drops remain possible. Together, we’re making sure your favorite loaves can still make their way to your table each week.

Here’s how it works:
Every Wednesday, a ticket-source link will be posted on my website for the following week’s pickup. Simply visit www.sovereignsourdough.com, click the link, and claim the number of loaves you’d like for the upcoming Tuesday pickup. Then, on pickup day, simply look for the “Sovereign Sourdough” banner at the market to grab your pre-ordered sourdough loaves!

Just a reminder—when telling a story about someone, tell the whole story. Don’t leave out the parts where they showed up for you when you needed it most.

It’s easy to rewrite history when it’s uncomfortable to admit how much someone helped you through a hard season.

Kindness isn’t a weakness, and it shouldn’t be treated like a stepping stone people use to get ahead and then forget.

If the full truth can’t be told, it’s not about karma—it’s about character.

People can say what they want. Those who were there already know what’s real. And the truth doesn’t need to be defended.

It’s true… we’re moving 🤍

As bittersweet as this is, we’re getting ready for a new chapter in Arizona. This will be my last week baking here in Tennessee, and I would absolutely love to serve you one more time before we go.

If you’ve been wanting to stock up, now is the time—place your final pickup order for this Saturday at 10AM while you still can.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you. It has been such a blessing to bake for your families, and I am beyond grateful for the love and support you’ve shown Sovereign Sourdough. You’ve made this little dream of mine something so special.

While this decision wasn’t easy, we truly feel God leading us in this next step. He has opened so many doors for our family—especially for our kids and their dreams—and we’re walking forward in faith.

I believe in forgiveness. I believe in showing grace—because that’s what I’ve been given. 🫶🏻

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” — Ephesians 4:32

But I also believe people are aware of what they’re doing. They know the impact. They know the hurt it causes. 🤷🏼‍♀️

“Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.” — Galatians 6:7

So while I choose forgiveness for my own peace, that doesn’t mean I’m called to reconnect or allow continued harm. 💔

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” — Proverbs 4:23

People are going to talk no matter what you do—let them. ✌🏻

Their opinions don’t define me, and they don’t determine where God is taking me. 🙌🏻

I’m staying focused on the path in front of me, not the noise around me. 🗣️

Most people speak on stories they know nothing about and battles they’ve never had to fight. 🥊

If someone chooses to misunderstand me without ever seeking truth, that says more about them than it does about me. 👏🏻

Not everyone is meant to go where God is taking you.

Some people will doubt you, criticize you, and misjudge you—until the very moment your obedience produces fruit. 🍎

So I’ll keep my eyes on my calling, protect my peace, and trust that what God has for me will come in His timing. ⏱️

Teaching them now… so life doesn’t have to later ✌🏻

People will applaud others doing exactly what you do… but stay silent when it’s you. 🤫 MANY people will hype someone else for what YOU’VE been doing all along—just not you. They don’t ignore the work… they ignore WHO it’s coming from. 🙁

It’s a different kind of hurt…. 💔

Same effort.
Same calling.
Same obedience.

But here’s the truth:
God doesn’t promote based on applause—He promotes based on obedience. 💪🏻

What’s for you won’t be skipped, stolen, or silenced. 🙏🏻

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time.” — 1 Peter 5:6

“For promotion comes neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: He puts down one, and sets up another.” — Psalm 75:6-7

Stay planted. Stay faithful. Stay UNSEEN if you have to. 🙈

Because when God does it… it won’t need validation. 😌
