Puerto Rico has always been home to me. Every visit to mi abuela-filled my heart ..the mountains, the chorros,the beaches, the food, my family, the music. It’s impossible not to fall in love with the island over and over⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
But this trip feels different.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
There’s a strange guilt that comes with enjoying the beauty of a place while so many people who call it home are carrying heavy burdens. Behind every breathtaking view are families navigating uncertainty, economic challenges, and the realities that don’t always make it into vacation photos.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
I don’t share this to diminish the joy of visiting. Puerto Rico deserves to be celebrated, supported, and experienced. I share it because I think it’s important to hold space for both truths at once—that this island is incredibly beautiful, and that many of its people are facing difficult times.⁣⁣⁣
My hope is that when we visit, we do so with gratitude, respect, and intention. Support local businesses. Learn the stories. Leave the island better than you found it.⁣⁣⁣
Puerto Rico is more than a destination. It’s home for millions, and it deserves our love long after the vacation ends. 🇵🇷❤️⁣⁣
