A great tip for those, like me that are avoiding lactose and egg, you can replace the milk and egg for royal icing with ¼ cup of aquafaba - a fancy way of saying water from a can of garbanzos-, one teaspoon of white vinegar, one teaspoon of vanilla extract, and as much powdered sugar as needed to have the mix feel like white school glue.
