I have been baking decorated sugar cookies for more than 15 years! With the support of friends and family I finally took the plunge and became a Cottage Food Operator with the hopes of owning my own bakery someday. My passion for baking and decorated sugar cookies came when I started working at a bakery when I was 20 years old. My mom says that it started way before then with my grandpa. She told
me that when I was a child, I use to bake sugar cookies with him. I guess I was too little to remember. He was famous among his friends for his cookies. Skip forward to when I was 20 and working at a bakery, my mom bought me my own mixer. And we are off…that Christmas I made my first batch of homemade decorated sugar cookies! Every one of my family members enjoyed them so much. Year after year I continued to make them for my family as their Christmas gifts. Still to this day, if I don’t make them for Christmas, family gets so upset. I had to figure out the best way to share with other what I had created over the years, so I created a page with the name of Reinhart Cookies. My friends and family had enjoyed looking at my cookie creation’s and asked me to make them some cookies for their special events. By 2021 and with all my friends and family loving my cookies, I decided to take it one step forward, becoming a Cottage Food Operator and creating an LLC. I thought long and hard about a name for my company. I wanted to make sure I could honor my grandma Jan, who passed away in 2014. She LOVED bears. She collected everything bears. She always had cookies in her cookie jar. From store bought to her delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies, my sister and I would always have our hands in the cookie jar! So naturally I had to have a bear in my logo. My husband always calls me mama bear because we have two children and mama bears protect their cubs. BOOM! Mama Bear Cookies LLC was created. Of course, in the logo there is still the heart for Reinhart Cookies where it all started. Oh yeah, remember me mentioning my grandpa?!?! Well, he is important too. He loves bears also. As babies he has given stuffed bears to all his grandchildren and great grandchildren at birth. I used to carry my bear around with me all the time. I was never without my bear! So there you have it, a little history as to how I became Mama Bear Cookies LLC. I hope you enjoy what you see and taste! My homemade decorated sugar cookies taste just as good as they look! You will also find me making chocolate chips cookies, called Jannies, honoring that wonderful grandma of mine, who was a mama bear herself!
