Had this little debate on what the taco should be called. One lady said "its Navajo taco" others said "its Indian taco" someone else said "we're not Indians its native tacos". The way fry bread came to be was from the removal of us from our homelands and displaced to areas of little to no resource. We were given government rations of flour, milk, cheese and lard. So its known by many names but fry breads story is one of suffering, endurance, and sustainability. They thought we were going to starve but we took this little to no ingredients and made a bread!! On the powwow scene people made a taco with it and used it as a dipper in 3 sisters soup. Fry bread is our story, so no matter how many names you give it, its still the same thing, the name doesn't change the story.
