Sourdough is a method of making bread via growing natural living yeast and bacteria. These cause the dough to rise. It takes approximately 14 days to grow your starter of flour and water. It’s a series of feeding and rising everyday until you get a bubbly starter that at least doubles after every feeding.

The history of sourdough is very interesting.

The "H***h" Origin: The h***h (the h***hie/alcohol liquid that forms on top of a neglected starter) gets its name from the Tlingit Alaskan Native American tribe. Gold rush miners would trade supplies for this fermented yeast topcoat.

I am a born and raised Alaskan. I had no idea.
