2026 Membership Drive

Being part of Sunflower Knitters allows me to feel connected to a group who love what I love-The fiber arts, and specifically knitting and crochet. But it’s also a group that supports one another through all the ups and downs of making a life…and sometimes that includes alot of redesigning!

Many of you have already renewed your 2026 Membership (and beyond!) when you signed up for KITH (thanks Jill!). Thank you for being a part of this creative and giving organization for years to come.

For those (like me) who need a few reminders to put some fire under them, This is your reminder to please renew your membership starting January 1st. You can go to www.sunflowerknitters.org and sign up under Membership. You can bring a check or mail a check to our P.O. Box on the website. If you have any questions about payments, myself, Heather Rischar ([email protected]) and our Treasurer, Nancy Kollhoff ([email protected]) can help you with it.

Hope to see you at the Morning and Evening Meetings and our Party in January! ~Heather

Sunflower Knitters Summer Tee 2025 Knit Along

Knit Along with Us!

We will have a summer tee knit along beginning in June. The pattern for the KAL is Swing by Spring Top by Drops Design. It is a free pattern available on Ravelry [https://ravel.me/222-32-swing-by-spring-top](https://ravel.me/222-32-swing-by-spring-top) or the Drops Designs website [https://www.garnstudio.com/pattern.php?id=10234&cid=19](https://www.garnstudio.com/pattern.php?id=10234&cid=19).

The pattern is a short sleeve tee with 1x1 ribbing and a round yoke with a bit of lace. It is knit top down in the round. The sleeve and body are stockinette stitch so they can easily be made longer per your preference. Please note that this sweater is very cropped and form-fitting so many will likely want to modify the pattern to eliminate the decreases in the body and work the body longer.

We will have a cast-on party on June 14 in conjunction with our Knit in Public event (Overland Park Arboretum, June 14, 10:00am-1:00 pm). You may consider using a cast on technique that works well with the 1x1 ribbing, such as tubular, alternate cable, Guernsey, invisible, or slipknot cast on for a challenge.

Please note that you don’t have come to the Cast On Party to participate in the KAL. You can just start your summer tee when ready and share with the group your progress and final project.

A KAL meet-up is scheduled on June 28 at the Central Resource Library, Room 02 at 1:30-3:00 pm. Come if you want to knit with others or need some help on the project.

Helpful Note about the KAL yarn and sizing

The pattern uses DK weight yarn, DROPS Belle, which is 53% cotton, 33% viscose, and 14% linen (50g skein = 131 yds/120 m). Because DROPS yarn is not readily available in the US, this is an opportunity to substitute yarn. If you want some assistance in yarn substitution, chat with your LYS, Guild friends, or check out the website [https://yarnsub.com/](https://yarnsub.com/). I have done a little math to help you out with yardage and sizing because the pattern lists measurements in cm and yarn only in grams.
