I made bagels today. 🥯

According to the recipe, it was supposed to be a relaxing afternoon of baking. According to my kitchen, it was a full-contact sport.

There was flour everywhere, dough sticking to things it had no business sticking to, and at least three moments when I seriously considered ordering takeout instead.

But in the end, I got a batch of warm, chewy, homemade bagels—and honestly, that feels like a win.

If anyone needs me, I'll be over here acting like I own a New York bagel shop. 😂

What an incredible day! 🎉 I'm thrilled to announce that I completely SOLD OUT of our baked goods at the grocery store today! Thank you to Tom's Family Market for allowing me to sell there and for being so welcoming!

I baked a fresh loaf of bread today and it came out perfect. Golden, fluffy, straight out of a bakery… basically my masterpiece.
Unfortunately, my family has the survival instincts of seagulls at a beach picnic.
Before I could even grab my phone, they swooped in and started slicing. So now instead of a proud “look what I made” photo, I get to post… half a loaf and a crumb crime scene.
Just know it was beautiful. You’ll have to use your imagination for the rest. 🍞😂

After days of feeding what is essentially a jar of flour soup like it’s my full-time job… my sourdough starter is finally ready to bake with 🥖

She’s bubbly. She’s dramatic. She smells a little questionable at times, but don’t we all? Honestly, this has been less “baking project” and more “raising a chaotic pet.”

I’ve kept it alive this long, which feels like an achievement on its own. Next step: turning this fermented science experiment into an actual loaf of bread without emotionally spiraling.

If you have tips for a beginner bread baker (or emotional support), I’m accepting both 👀

So I'm just starting an in home bakery, I do cookies and brownies, what I don't do is bread. I have never had a knack for it.

I started watching Thesourdoughhoe religiously. I think she's hilarious and am convinced we'd be besties she wouldn't even mind that my cussing could make a sailor blush.

So I watch her videos and see the tutorials on getting a starter going and through her infinite wisdom she's got me convinced I'm Betty Frickin Crocker when it comes to bread so I give it a go.

This is day 7, 1:1:1 feeding daily, it had the false rise but he's ( yes its a he) been a lazy, smelly still nameless mess since. I get that it takes a couple weeks but I'm convinced I'm missing something. Tell me what I'm doing wrong lol. HELP A GIRL OUT
