bake, but when we do we wonder why we don’t.

Too hot for you to bake? We got you covered. Come join us in the air conditioning at The Book Nook (Sunday noon to 2), and grab some baked goods for your holiday weekend.

On the menu this weekend: Kolaches
Cookies (chocolate chip)
Scones (Cardamon)
Small sourdoughs
Cinnamon rolls
kolaches (rhubarb berry)
Baguettes (yup, that is a new menu item we have been experimenting with)

Our neighbors rhubarb is going nuts….. so tomorrow at ladies day out at The Garden Gallery our cart will have rhubarb muffins (made with my mom’s homemade vanilla).

We once had a customer who had only ever had rhubarb with salt. He bought one muffin, came back and bought us out.

What an incredible week it has been, prepping 500+ sugar cookies for the National Balloon Classic in Indianola, Iowa. Proud to be part of this event that so important to our family. My great grandfather would be very proud of our involvement.

Niko's Bakery is an official sponsor of the National Balloon Classic in Indianola, Iowa!
Hot air ballooning has been part of my family's story for four generations. My great-grandfather was one of the original supporters of ballooning in Indianola. He and my grandfather served as the event's weather team for many years, and my grandpa still continues that tradition today.
My grandparents have volunteered countless hours to help make the National Balloon Classic a success, and my mom and uncle grew up volunteering there too. As for me? In my 14 years, I've never missed a National Balloon Classic—and last year I even got to take my first hot air balloon ride!
This year, it's my turn to give back.
As a fourth-generation balloon supporter, Niko's Bakery is proud to sponsor the National Balloon Classic and provide dessert for one of the sponsor events during the week.
I love being able to combine my passion for baking with a tradition that means so much to my family.
And if my great-grandpa could see all of us carrying on the tradition today, I think he'd be pretty proud….. he’d probably enjoy a cookie or two!
