We miss you all! We're so excited about what to come in the future, but for now, we wanted to pass on a fantastic opportunity for our friends/fans in the Omaha area. The Institute for Culinary Arts' competition team is holding a showase/benefit on March 29, where they will be creating the delicious foods they produce and present for ACF-sanctioned competitions throughout the year. You will get to watch them in the cookery process live, and will get to eat all of it. Nine different types of gourmet cuisine, open house style, at your leisure - what better way could there be to spend a Friday night?

Event2013 Culinary Competition Team Student Showcase
Spend an evening at Metropolitan Community College's Institute for the Culinary Arts! The MCC Culinary Competition Team will practice preparing food for their upcoming competition and you can experience the finished product!
As a guest, you will watch as student chefs prepare their menus at interactive stations in MCC's Swanson Conference Center. Each team member will present a short summary of their dish or component and discuss how they have benefitted from the experience.
After food is prepared, you will enjoy tasting the buffet of assorted hot and cold menu items and provide feedback by completing an evaluation form. The information provided will be incorporated by the team into their development process.
All proceeds from the event will be used to support the 2013 Culinary Team Nebraska.
About the 2013 Culinary Team:
2013 Culinary Team Nebraska is a consortium of MCC students and faculty competing in regional, national and international competitions sanctioned by the World Association of Chef Societies (WACS) and the American Culinary Federation (ACF). Each year at the end of summer, a training and recruitment "boot camp" is held where members of previous years' teams come together to share their skills and knowledge with the new members. Each year, as part of the process to name a National Champion, the American Culinary Federation hosts a myriad events where student teams are challenged to deliver their best against criteria established by the ACF.
This year, MCC has already competed in two such events: the John Joyce Culinary Invitational in Overland Park, Kansas and the Midwest Culinary Challenge in Madison, Wisconsin. Both contests saw the team deliver medal-worthy performances. (Silver and bronze respectively.) The next competition is in April in Little Rock, Arkansas. The winner of this event will move on to compete against three other regional winners in July at the ACF National Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada.
As each individual's ability to deliver against their own expectations is the most critical key to success, this year's motto is: SHOWYOURWORK.
