200 lives. Each day, 200 people in the U.S. die from drug overdose.

This week, we commemorate the family members we’ve lost for International Overdose Awareness Day on August 31st. More people are dying from overdose than homicides, suicides, and traffic accidents combined. And the stats are more bleak for marginalized groups like LGBTQ people and communities of color.

We demand that elected officials invest in harm reduction, expansion of medication-assisted treatment, and overdose prevention centers. We demand that they stop profiling people of color and LGBTQ people as drug users and treating them like criminals. Every life is valuable. A world where no family member dies from overdose is within reach.
