Welcome to June, the objectively best month of the year! 😜 🌈✨This week's extra fabulous special will be vegan RAINBOW CHALLAH!!! Each of the six colored strands is naturally pigmented with a different flavor (beet, orange-saffron, lemon-turmeric, basil, fennel-butterfly pea flower, and sweet potato-cardamom), all of which weave together into a fantastical whimsical EXTRAVAGANZA ELEGANZA!

Summer fruit galettes are here! The berries beckoned to me at the market this week, so this week's dessert special is Mixed Berry Galette! Featuring Bloody Butcher red cornmeal from Full Belly Farms, blackberries from Lute and strawbs and bluebs from Chay's. Order a slice or a whole tart for this Friday! 🍓🫐🖤🥧

This week's special, baked on Friday, will be Polenta & Rosemary Sourdough! This loaf will be swirled with beautiful purple polenta from , cooked with fragrant rosemary and a touch of olive oil, and peppered with toasted pumpkin seeds. This week's Staple bread is Sourdough Country Loaf. This week's loaf will include a slightly larger portion of whole-grain flour, a hard white wheat from Farmer Mai! If you want to be sure to get your hands on this loaf, please message me by Wednesday 5/13 so I can have your bread ready for you on Friday 5/15 ❤️ As usual, all breads are $15 and I'm down to barter as well!

I'm also offering a dessert special this week - Vegan Almond Shortbread! $15 for 6 or $3 per cookie :)

I'm also offering a dessert special this week for my favorite High Holy Holiday - Herb Leaf Shortbread Cookies! These cookies will also have triticale flour in them, and will be flavored with an herb melange including California Mugwort, fig leaf, & fennel, and topped with green sugar (not iced like the photo). Let me know if you want some, $3 each or a half dozen for $15 💚

This week's is a Sourdough Country Loaf, and will feature triticale as our whole-grain component! I'm excited about this one for a number of reasons -- firstly, this grain, which is a cross between wheat (triticum) and rye (secale), is one you don't typically see on grocery store shelves. In fact, I've never even eaten it before! It was bred in the late 19th century to combine the yields and quality of wheat with the environmental resilience of rye, making it more nutritious and ideal for cultivation in developing countries.

Secondly, if you're a huge nerd like me, you might remember that in the Star Trek Original Series episode "The Trouble With Tribbles", the tribble population explodes when they feast upon a shipment of "quadro-triticale" intended for agricultural use on a new colony, which has always made me curious to try the grain foy myself (a million tribbles can't be wrong!). This particular flour was grown by Riverdog Farms and milled by and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to play around with it.
