Good afternoon friends,
I have good news, and bad news. Those of you that we saw every weekend, and know our story will understand what I am about to tell you.
Steve and I have been through a lot this past year. Steve and I opened Flour Buds 3-1/2 years ago. We worked so hard to produce the healthiest, most delicious, natural and organic gluten free available on the market. We believe we have succeeded as far as that is concerned. Steve and I have been doing all the prepping, baking, setting up, cleaning, packaging, and sometimes delivering, our fresh baked products.
For those of you that witnessed this, you know what a toll it as taken on us, especially Steve. He has endured crippling pain prior to his hip replacement because there was no perfect time for him to take off to do it. Then his father passed away suddenly , and that was not only shocking, but devastating. He was the greatest, warmest, kindest man I have ever known. Then Steve was diagnosed with prostate cancer, another blow, but he survived and is still recovering. Now, Steve has again been experiencing pain in his other hip and knee. He has been seen , given cortisone, and had to have his knee drained. Basically he is preparing for another hip replacement.
Why am I telling you this? Plainly and simply because this has been a labor of love and passion for me at first, but after meeting all of you over the years, Steve has loved seeing everyone enjoy the food on the weekends. We both marveled at the children's faces when their parents picked up the first cake they were able to enjoy since being diagnosed with Celiac.disease, or a bride and groom deciding on a wedding cake, or that bride then calling back for her baby shower cake! These are the reasons we stayed even though it was a struggle.
Most of you know we have been looking for an investor to help build the business.Unfortunately that has not happened.
Therefore, we will be closing.
I am in the process of gathering information on a home based business to continue doing celebration cakes, and cupcakes., as well as, a home delivery service.
I will post when I have that information for you.
I wanted to thank each and every one of you that came through our door and let us into your life. I hope you enjoyed our food, and baked goods. Thank you to Whole Foods, Fairway, Hungry Hollow Co-op, Zabars, Jerry's in Englewood, and Carousel Cakes. We were honored to bake for you. Thank you again everyone.
Maybe we will be back one day...NEVER SAY NEVER!
Pam and Steve
