❗❗This morning, nearly 200 health departments around the state received this open letter from Homemade Texas and the Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance re: SB 541 changes to the Texas Cottage Food Law. ❗❗

Try not to be too surprised, but many health departments do not post their email addresses on their websites, or have posted old and outdated addresses leading to some emails bouncing back undeliverable. 🤯

As of September 1, 2025, no health department can require a permit or a fee for you to produce, sell, or sample cottage foods. Period. If they know this and require it anyway, the law says that person must be fired.

This isn't about coming after people's jobs; it's a tool to get them to follow the law, after so many local health departments decided in 2021 to exploit a loophole and start requiring permits fees from the smallest businesses in the state; people (often women, minorities, and economically disadvantaged) working at home, who already had state-imposed limits on how much they can sell, what they can sell, and how they can sell.

Sometimes you hear me talk about "supporting our work". If you know anyone who spent their weekend finding email addresses for every health department in the state, let me know, because me and that person have a lot in common. 😂 THIS is our work. ‼️‼️ PLEASE READ BEFORE ORDERING‼️‼️
As we move into 2025, I’m excited to continue providing you with premium quality cakes and desserts. Here’s what you need to know about my updated cake sizes and pricing policies:

•Custom Cakes: Starting at $200.

•Cupcakes: Minimum order of 2 dozen, priced at $100 for two dozen. This DOES NOT include custom acrylic toppers , fondant pieces or specialty designs.

•All 7-inch and 8-inch cakes will be double barrels, meaning they will double the servings. For example, if you need a cake to serve 30 people, you will receive a 7-inch 4-layer round cake, with the top and bottom portions serving 15 people each.

•All 9-inch cakes will be made with 3 layers to ensure adequate servings and stunning presentation.

•Wedding Cakes: Priced based on the number of servings and additional décor requested, tailored to each couple’s needs and vision.
This goes for Quince cakes aswell.

•Last-Minute Orders: Any orders placed within 7 days of your event will include a last-minute fee, with prices doubling due to the time and effort required.

Additionally, as we all know, the cost of supplies has increased. While I don’t need to explain this (we all shop at the grocery store!), my updated pricing reflects the rising costs, as well as the care and premium ingredients I use in every single order.

I may not be the right baker for everyone, and that’s okay! But for those who value taste, quality, and unmatched service, I’m here to make your sweetest celebrations unforgettable.
