Hi friends! It’s been a while since I’ve properly introduced myself, and there are quite a few new faces here, so I thought it was time. 💙🌾

I’m Tana — wife, momma, full-time crop insurance adjuster, gardener, baker, farm hand, cow milker…and the person behind Bluejay Homestead 🤣

What started as a love for making food for my own family has slowly turned into this small business centered around the things we actually use and enjoy at home: fresh milled bread, cookies, buns, bagels, jams, pickles, pantry goods, candles, eggs, and whatever happens to be in season around the homestead.

I’m especially passionate about freshly milled flour and making simple, everyday foods with thoughtfully chosen ingredients. Nothing too fancy — just the kinds of things real families and real kids eat every day. Sandwich bread, pizza dough, hamburger buns, muffins, cookies… the good stuff. 🤍

Bluejay Homestead was never created with the goal of becoming a huge bakery or business. It’s simply a way for me to share the things I already love making, help support our family, and hopefully offer our community another option for homemade, small-batch food.

Most days you’ll find me juggling work, two little kids, livestock, a couple of gardens, a kitchen covered in flour, and probably three different projects I convinced myself I could handle at once. 😅

I’m so thankful you’re here, whether you’ve been following from the beginning or just recently found Bluejay Homestead. Welcome to our little corner of the world. 💙

A little North Judson Makers Market sneak peek for you… 👀🌾

I’ve been working on a couple of new things for the August 27 market, and I’m pretty excited about these!

First up: Fresh Milled Pop-Tarts 🤩 🍓
A fun little back-to-school treat made with freshly milled flour and perfect for those busy mornings when everyone is trying to get out the door.

And coming straight from the homestead pantry… homemade spaghetti sauce! 🍅
Tomatoes, garden goodness, and a whole lot of the kind of food I actually love making for my own family.

Both will be available at the North Judson Makers Market on Thursday, August 27, along with plenty of your Bluejay favorites.

I’ll share the full market menu as we get closer, but consider this your first little peek. 💙

June and July were wonderfully busy for Bluejay Homestead, but with a new month comes a little bit of a slowdown for our family. 🤍

We’re adjusting to a new normal with Ryan working at the vet clinic and figuring out what this new season looks like for all of us.

For now, I’ll continue offering scheduled bake days with pickup at The Bread Shed, along with attending the North Judson Makers Markets! That is currently the only in-person event I have planned, although fall may bring a few more opportunities.

I’m so thankful for every order, market visit, share, kind word, and bit of encouragement you’ve given this little homestead business. Your support has made these past few months so special.
