Ending a busy baking weekend on a pretty note with this buttercream anniversary cake. 🌸✨ Soft florals, vintage-inspired piping and just a little touch of gold for a special celebration.

Just a little heads-up that A Traveling Cupcake will be on vacation September 2–7! And this time, we’re trading buttercream peaks for Rocky Mountain peaks — Colorado bound! 🏔️💙

While I’m off getting a little higher elevation inspiration 😉, responses to emails, messages, and order inquiries may be a bit slower than usual. I promise I’m not ghosting you… I’m probably just somewhere with a mountain view and absolutely no idea what day it is. 😂

You all voted, and one thing was VERY clear…

APPLE WON! 🍎🙌

So mark your calendars for Sunday, September 27th, because the very first A Traveling Cupcake Fall Treat Cart is coming!

Since apple was the overwhelming favorite, the cart will be filled with lots of apple-inspired goodies, along with a mix of cozy fall-spiced treats…and because it just wouldn’t be fall without it, I might sneak in a pumpkin treat or two. 🎃😉

And I’m not giving everything away just yet!

Throughout September, I’ll be sharing sneak peeks of some of the goodies making their way onto the cart. 👀🍎

Then, a couple of weeks before the big day, I’ll reveal the FULL FALL TREAT CART MENU!

🍰 INSPIRATION PHOTO vs. REAL CAKE 🍰

I wanted to circle back to something I’ve talked about before—cake inspiration photos, especially AI-generated ones, and why your finished cake may not be an exact copy.

These two photos are the perfect example!

💙 Photo #1 is the REAL cake I created.
💙 Photo #2 is the AI-generated inspiration photo.

Pretty close, right?! But look a little closer and you’ll notice some differences—and that’s exactly the point.

AI can create a picture of just about anything. It doesn’t have to worry about gravity, buttercream consistency, the weight of decorations, food-safe materials, how an edible element will actually be constructed, or whether every tiny detail can physically exist on a real cake.

A real cake is made by hand, with real ingredients, in the real world. Every drip falls a little differently. Every decoration has to actually stand up. Colors can vary. Proportions may need to change. And sometimes a design has to be adjusted so that it works beautifully and safely on an actual cake.

And honestly, that’s part of what makes custom cakes special. 💙

When you send me an inspiration photo, my goal isn’t to make a photocopy. My goal is to take the things you love about that design—the colors, theme, details and overall feel—and create my version of it just for you.

AI inspiration? Absolutely! 🙌
Pinterest inspiration? Of course!
Another baker’s cake? Definitely!

Just remember: inspiration is the starting point, not an exact replica guarantee.

August means back-to-school season, and we hope everyone has had a wonderful start to the new school year! 💛

Whether you’re starting kindergarten, middle school, high school, college, or somewhere in between, here’s to a year filled with new friends, new adventures, lots of learning, and plenty of reasons to celebrate along the way! 🚌📓✨

And to all the parents, teachers, school staff, and everyone helping make those first few weeks happen — we’re cheering you on, too! 💙

As Birthday Week comes to an end, I keep coming back to one simple thought:

Everyone deserves to be celebrated. 🎂💛

Birthdays can be filled with cake, candles, balloons and presents — and of course, as a baker, I LOVE all of those things! But when you really think about it, birthdays are about so much more.

They’re a day that says…

You matter.
You are loved.
We’re so glad you’re here.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of being a tiny part of so many birthdays. I’ve made the cakes, cupcakes and cookies that have sat in the middle of tables surrounded by family and friends. I’ve heard the stories behind special themes, favorite characters, milestone birthdays and surprise celebrations.

And that’s something I’ll never take for granted. 💙

Because behind every order is someone worth celebrating.

So as we wrap up Birthday Week, I hope you remember this: celebrate your people. Make the phone call. Send the card. Buy the silly balloon. Light the candles. Take the picture. Eat the cake. 🎂

It doesn’t have to be big or perfect.

Sometimes simply remembering and showing up is the greatest gift of all. 💛

💙 A Little Note From Me 💙

I just wanted to pop on with a quick personal note. We have SO much fun happening on the page right now, including our giveaway, and I am incredibly thankful for all of your comments, messages, tags, and excitement! 🧁

I’m normally pretty quick to jump in and respond, but I may be a little quieter than usual for the next day or two. Today, we had to say goodbye to my sweet cat, Mia, after 18 years together. 💔🐾 She has been part of my life for such a long time, and today has been a hard one.
