It’s a mermaid cake kind of day today in MD! My niece celebrated with cake and crushed the fondant on this cake 😂
Made Lucky Charms cakesicles for St.Patrick’s Day! My colleague was more than happy to be my treat model…ah the sacrifices at the office 😁
So happening!
And this is happening!
It’s starting again. Can one be addicted to caking? I moved to San Francisco with no intention to cake…I just needed to store some sprinkles that were too cute not to buy 🙄 Then I wanted to try putting apple cakes in these cute tart liners. Now the cute cakesicle idea for Valentine’s Day…let’s ride! 🤪
Always baking 😁 Applecake.
I don’t really need a reason to try a new restaurant…but my fridge has been broken for almost two weeks so here I go! 😉 This day, I was hankering for some noodle soup. I had the spicy beef and tripe noodle soup at in Fremont CA. They meant spicy as I caught it in my throat and my nose started running part way through the meal. The tripe was tender and the hot chili oil was like lava but tasted so good. I just had to pair it with the 4 flavor appetizer of boiled peanuts, chili oil tripe, sliced pig ears and sliced tofu (buried beneath). My lips were on fire but I’m definitely returning 😍
My first bake on the west coast with the new starter I made. Blonde but still tasty. More experiments to come!
When I saw the line outside of I thought I was trying to get into a food festival! The restaurant had only been open like an hour at that point. They had a roped off tent across the sidewalk to orderly queue customers to be seated. I thought, “Well, I’m here…” and got into line but the people informed me that the end of the line was actually back across the sidewalk in the alley between the restaurant and the next store 😲. I have proof below that I stood in the insanely long line and had the Original broth ramen with a 2 spicy level (black sauce that you mix into the noodles) with extra cabbage (gotta eat your veggies) and the chicken karaage appetizer. It was really THAT good. The broth was creamy and the egg was runny with the whites fully cooked. The heat level was just right after researching the reviews that a 1 spicy level was not quite enough. The pork chasu was not the thick sliced tender pork so I’ll be trying the pork belly next time. The egg aoli for the chicken was so good that I practically licked the saucer. 😊
Broke my favorite mixer attachment 😞. That’s it. Christmas is canceled 😐
Didn’t cut the cross into this Rosemary sourdough. Let it be in the fridge for 36 hours. Still delicious 😋
California strawberries are sweet jewels that many of us East coasters have never experienced. They are never tart and they are always fully red and ripened all the way. And yes, I totally put half a flat of California strawberries through the X-ray machine because I carried it onto the flight back from San Francisco 🍓.
Two weeks ago, Jeremy went to California and brought back these California walnuts we found at the farmers market. We showed Maddie how to crack them open using a nutcracker and she went to town on 2.5 lbs of walnuts (yes, I put 2.5 lbs of walnuts in my suitcase). It yielded about 3 cups of walnut meat. I finally had some time this evening and made some maple walnut cookies. Smelled amazing baking and tastes like little pieces of cake 🤤. Order or free form? Which banana bread topping are you?
Dear in San Francisco: You were decorated in your Christmas finest tonight and you did not disappoint. After some crusty fresh bread and a salad tossed table side, your chef rolled up his metal meat safe and showed us the amazing aged beef inside. He sharpened his knife and expertly carved the prime rib and served it with baked or mashed potatoes, creamed or sautéed spinach, creamed corn and a slice of English pudding aka popovers. The meat was tender and minerally and that au jus is everything 🤤
Breakfast at in Fremont is kinda the bomba. If you like tender tripe and fall apart pigs feet in a rich soup first thing in the morning, we’d be twinning. If you’d say an omelette with tender pork butt and green chili with a side of roasted potatoes and peppers, I’d say it’s a delicious choice as well. Don’t miss the golden potato “pancake” - griddled mashed potatoes with a dollop of sour cream 🤤
Hello Fremont, CA! We are at in the Newark CA area. The xiao long bao was as good as 😲. Great structure, lots of soup and the meatball had a braised pork anise flavor 🤤 The sweet and sour pork had a Crystal very crispy batter but it was too seeet for my tastebuds. The pan fried soup dumplings were a delight! They were small buns with a crispy bottom and a surprise of savory soup and meatball…I’ll be back 😍
Rosemary sourdough should be a candle scent 😋 I’m waking up the house in the best way.
Rainbows and
On a chocolate tasting from home. That’s my workday today.
We had the tasting menu at Korean fusion in Annandale VA and it was amazing. Korean version of hash with a runny egg, noodle version of bibimbop with sliced whelk, steamed egg custard with fish oil and these tiny slices of spicy red peppers, tender pork belly with a lightly pickled Napa wrap, NY strip with Korean sweet potato, and a battered and delightfully crispy cod over a porridge risotto. Chef Justin Ahn was so gracious to introduce the dishes and tell us about his appreciation to cook what’s in season and to his whimsy 😊We will definitely be back in a few weeks for the winter menu ❤️
cake it is! Giving your kid the squeals is what warms my heart ❤️ 😁
Stopped by and visited Kevin the owner of in Mosaic District because I needed soft puffy Dutch pancakes 🤤 Open until 9…
