This weekend we celebrated Pohela Boishakh / Bengali New Year surrounded by vibrant colors, incredible flavors, and our amazing Alaap NYC community!

Whether you were there for the aam bhorta, friendly carrom competition, festive alta art, or the soulful musical performance, we loved celebrating Pohela Boishakh with you. Shubho Noboborsho!

So inspired after Team Alaap’s outing to last Friday to see the documentary, In Search of Bengali Harlem. 🎬✨

Having had the privilege of collaborating with .ullah previously on Dishwasher Dreams, we were absolutely thrilled to see this cultural storytelling and lost history of South Asian immigration in the US brought to the screen by Aladdin Ullah and . Highly recommend watching it!

Also enjoyed hearing from a panel of activists who are leading and organizing our communities everyday - we are grateful for your work. 🙏🏾
