Sugar Art for Autism - Incredibly honored to be part of this collab for the 2nd consecutive year.
Our 2019 Chiki Cake design contribution towards spreading autism awareness through Sugar Art led us to the opportunity to partner with an amazing Haute Couture fashion designer, Mr. Michael ANDOLSEK.
"See it with your heart as your eyes might miss something" 💗
Michael Andolsek is an artist, a fashion designer, a businessman and an autist. He is the founder of the luxury fashion brand ANDOLSEK. This year, we had the distinct honour & privilege to partner with ANDOLSEK whose social initiative entails fostering the creative abilities of people with autism. It was only natural, after realising Mr. Andolsek’s love for art, as well as design and creating striking apparel that rely on splendour and precision, that we decided to form a collaboration for our 2019 autism awareness campaign, whereby we drew inspiration for our edible pieces from Michael’s fashion and art portfolio. We hope you enjoy looking at every single piece in this collaboration; awareness leads to acceptance!

This first cake design was inspired by an Andolsek outfit modeled by Dana Moore on March 5, 2018. The attention to details in all of Andolsek’s designs is without of doubt an art. I was captivated by the beautiful vibrant colors such as yellow, pink, and purple which I used in my cake design. One of Andolsek’s drawings of a heart also stood out to me when creating the design for this cake. The fact the heart isn’t flawless proves that “Art is not perfect, and that’s ok”. I also incorporated handmade sugar flowers and sugar gold yarn balls for a simple, modern, sophisticated theme that is timeless. As a form of expression art allows us to be advocates for those whose voices are often unheard. Therefore I integrated the sugar puzzle pieces into the cake design which is a symbol used for people with autism. This element not only helps spread awareness but helps people with autism to feel included.
