It’s a great, classic vanilla cake that also works well with the fruit or fruits of the season!

La Boîte biscuits & spices by Lior Lev Sercarz, created in 2006, is the realization of a dream and a long journey. Traveling and cooking around the world for the last several years, Chef Lior Lev Sercarz worked with some of the world’s best chefs, including most notably spice master Olivier Roellinger. Inspired by his passion for spices and the stories they tell, Lior began his own journey studying spices and their origins, eventually creating his own blends. Each of them is a reflection of a place, a moment, or cultural influence.

To create the blends, Lior uses the best spices from around the world to obtain fresh, aromatic, and powerful flavors. Though delightful in his biscuits, the blends can also be used in many preparations, offering endless possibilities for savory dishes, creative desserts, and unique cocktails.

I ate so well for dinner last night, and still had leftovers for breakfast and lunch today, thanks to the generosity and thoughtfulness of my friend and fellow Les Dames D'Escoffier Austin Chapter member, Carla, and her gift of Taylor Farms pork chops from Boggy Creek Farm.

I seared the chops, seasoned with salt, pepper, and herbes de Provence, on my Le Creuset cast iron grill pan preheated to 500F, then cranked the oven down low to 375F, and finished the chops to an internal temperature of 145F. I left them to rest for 5 minutes while I buttered my sweet potato and seasoned it with La Boite NY’s Smoked Cinnamon, an exciting spice that I also use as the secret ingredient in my Texas Bowl of Red chili.

(🤫 Sssshh. SECRET.)

With the proper tools, superior quality ingredients require so little fuss. Definitely the best meal I’ve eaten since returning to the kitchen, and my own devices.
