Is Status the only thing that causes people to move?
Hey there! To be totally transparent, there is an affiliate link to one of my favorite books - The book Expert Secretes has been game changing for me. As I was putting the link into the blog - I was like wait, why don't I just start an affiliate account of my own? which I did ! I appreciate the information Russell shares in this book. Game Changing! I mean, anytime a person can talk about cult leaders , and mention Jesus and H*tler in the same breath- its pretty bold. That was freaky - so I read on. For those who want to play a different game, make some changes financially, this book is a good path. Do I have the product he is actually selling, which is the software Clickfunnels - No ! but the book is great- and I have the T-shirt! . On the other hand, when white guys write books about business, they cannot speak on the bonus bumps that are packaged together with black people. Even some of the best books are lacking in this information. The reality is - black people have learned how to navigate business without really talking about it. Its simply painful. first rule of business is to lead your customer away from pain. Not always the best thing to do but it is effective. I mean being marginalized -the impact of systemic racism, the history of harm associated with it all. Trauma. Its just not the white guys experience. their truth. We have to take that into consideration because nothing should stop you from seeking knowledge- even it its not complete for you . I get that. One of the topics he covers in his book is status," ...that status is the only thing that causes people to move towards you or not move at all". This may be "The magic word" in business- but in life - especially for black and brown people raised in the USA, it's secondary to not wanting to be extinct, terminated, or violated in some traditional way. Does almost every choice in my life revolve around status? This doesn't ring true to me. There is something even more basic that has to be established for black and brown people- as conscious decision HAS TO BE MADE before considering Status as a factor- and that is - is who I am seen as in the world? In Maslow Hierarchy of Needs. Safety definitely comes before status. Was Status the #1 motive for Dr. Martin Luther King? Is it for Jay- Z ? What did they have to negotiate to do what they did ? If Jay- Z drives his expensive car through a town of some sort and is pulled over by a cop- what mode does he go into? Will he still get butterflies in his stomach? What if the cop did not know who he was - in this little ol' town? I think their is something- a more basic need, that black and brown folks must met first, before they consider status. So I do not agree with this one in the book - but you may..right? check out the book it - is game changing; even game changing books are only a pit stop to greatness and are incomplete... link below
