Sep. 6,2019- Maghrib Prayer at Great Muslim Adventure Day at Six Flags in Jackson, NJ. The Prophet (S) said: "The prayer in congregation is superior to the prayer performed individually by twenty-seven degrees." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] ⁣

Since I was young, Six Flags has been a part of my life. Roller coasters, funnel cakes and carnival games are beloved to me. Especially the funnel cakes. The first Great Muslim Adventure Day was held in 2000, and each year the event grows bigger and better. Now I look forward to making memories there with my own children.

I had the pleasure of attending the 5th changemaker event today in Ridgewood,NJ. I already knew that the company’s CEO, Melanie, is a powerhouse, as witnessed by the phenomenal growth Haute Hijab has shown in a few short years. She’s also eloquent and brilliant, and the whole event and discussion provided some much needed soul food. Melanie shared with us that her goal in starting Haute Hijab was to make the hijab mainstream. By the grace of Allah she reached her goal. Perhaps the greatest witness to that is their billboard in Times Square, NY.

Hey guys! I'm Sumaia- the second sister of the Iqbals. We moved to LA two years ago but miss the vibrant East Coast Muslim community. Like most women, I lead multiple lives. My current role is mama to two boys with a new addition coming soon. I just finished a design course and am looking forward to showing that side of my life once the dust settles. As a family we working our way towards reducing our carbon footprint and supporting local businesses.⁣

I love the natural look and am a skincare ju**ie. LA style is so different, super casual and relaxed but in a very well thought out way. Its a tough balance for a hijabi with an East Coast closet full of maxi dresses, sequins and lace. ⁣⁣

When wudu-safe nail polish came out a few years ago, I was elated. But the products haven’t always been perfect and companies are still working on the formulation.
