Meet Zach Kaye, our Material Scientist at Tômtex. With a background in Chemical Engineering from NYU Tandon and the University of Rochester, Zach’s expertise is driving forward the development of our scalable sustainable biomaterials. He specializes in polymer system development and process engineering, ensuring that our innovations are not only cutting-edge but also commercially viable.
Zach’s passion for sustainable materials was sparked during his time in NYC, where the intersection of chemistry and sustainability led him to biomaterials. He joined Tômtex for the opportunity to be part of a company that stands by its 100% biobased policy, which means absolutely no shortcuts and no greenwashing. Zach sees the future of biomaterials as transformative for industries like fashion and plastics, with Tômtex paving the way to eliminate synthetic polymers and reduce microplastics in the environment.
When he’s not in the lab, Zach fuels his creativity by playing guitar, bass, and drums with friends. As a New Yorker, he finds inspiration in the city’s energy, whether it’s running through the streets or savoring a gyro with fries after a long jog. For Zach, it’s all about staying active, enjoying good food, and letting his creative side flow… both inside and outside the lab!
