from fashion and buying, to cookies and cooking, to interior and exterior design with custom home builds. my career path has definitely taken many curves and pivots.. displayed here in this mini slideshow (hello baby molly, at her first fashion week, circa 2012).
when people ask what I do, it’s so hard to articulate.. i have mbc where my prime focus is on cookies, with cooking and baking jobs here and there (which keeps that part of my brain and my hands stimulated, and connected with so many amazing people). I work for a custom home builder as their Design Director - helping clients pick each and every detail of their beautiful home, while maintaining a sense of timelessness and consistency (while looking absolutely fab, obviously).
I also help friends with design details around remodels, and of course offer advice when they are going through the home build themselves. The level of detail it takes to hone in on and build a home from scratch.. Is absolutely mind boggling (most do not know where to start, feel overwhelmed or how to keep it “making sense”). The same goes for remodels - and that is where each and every detail becomes all the more important.. you’re tying two worlds together, your home as it is today and building it into what you want it to be.
I first dipped my feet into interiors (fun fact: in year 5 or 6 I think I wrote that I wanted to be an interior designer when I grew up.. funny how things truly never change, no matter what route you take to get there) when I built my very own home in 2018. we built with MI Homes, and as a production builder - it was hard to make the home feel like me, and not like all the others on the block. my method was taking the (limited) materials they had to offer, and give them a twist (eg the floor tile in my bathroom was set as a herringbone).
then, with my feet quite wet.. I re-designed my parents’ kitchen back home in (Sydney, Australia). some I did in person, the rest I helped with via remote. But it definitely got me interested on the path of home design and interiors.. And now almost 4 years later, here we are.
there’s a point to why I am sharing this (I’ve reached my character limit).. more to come.
