Here's a picture of me and my son decorating cookies. I've decided to start teaching him the details now that he's getting older 🤷🏾♀️
I've also decided to go into this new year with intention. I have struggled with posting consistently, particularly in the last year because life has been quite busy. But, I made a promise to myself this year that even if I don't post as often, I would make sure I did so with intention when I do post.
So back to this picture, my son is 4 years old and will be 5 in April. He's why I'm conscious of what I use to make the desserts I make and he's also the reason why I've learned to do what I do. I didn't want him to consume the chemicals and dyes you often find in most foods. But, I also felt that he should be able to enjoy sweets like any other kid. And, this is how I embarked upon my journey to find quality couverture chocolate. From there, I jumped down the rabbit hole and started learning how to make things like cookies from scratch. It's funny because I attempted to make sugar cookies the year before he was born and they came out terribly. In 2018, I decided that baking wasn't for me. Then, my son came in 2019..and now, here I am with a full-fledged dessert business.
So, I say all this to say: sometimes, what seems to be a failure isn't actually a failure. Ask yourself if you're doing it with intention and try again. You may unlock something in yourself that you didn't know was there 💫
