A HUGE thank you to Jasper County Fire Services for the meal last night! The center was able to gather and eat a meal together during shift change! The Board of Commissioners along with County Manager, Mike Benton, Captain Mooney and Board member, Mary Patrick stopped in to offer thanks to the dispatchers for their hard work! We appreciate each and every one of you! Dessert was provided by Angela Spivey

If you ask the men and women who answer more than 240 million calls to 911 each year about their remarkable work, they’ll probably tell you they’re just doing their job. But the truth is they’re helping to save many lives every day. That’s why, for nearly 40 years, communities nationwide have made it a point to observe National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week during the second week of April.

Next week we will be celebrating our local dispatchers. Feel free to drop a line of encouragement, a card of thanks or any token of appreciation to the ones that are there 24/7 taking the call.

Kellie Pound and Jennifer Smith, 2 of Jasper County 911 Telecommunication Officers attended Career Day at Washington Park Elementary School. A brief overview of how our center operates and how important 911 operators are was explained. Each student went home with a goodie bag. . Parents be on the lookout for some information for you as well.

The risk for severe weather will increase from west to east late Wednesday and into Thursday. Tornadoes, damaging winds, hail, and heavy rain will all be potential threats as these storms impact north and central Georgia.
