All of the floral decorations are made from sugar. The bride requested a minimalistic, whimsical arrangement of off-white open petal flowers, no leaves, just flowers and stems, on a two tiered cutting cake.

Love the way the light hits the sugar blooms in the photo on location. 🙂

As always, my cakes travel safely and securely in one of my several CakeSafes. It was especially important this particular day with the wind and impending rain that was starting to hit as I was carrying the cake to the reception tent. it remained safe with not a petal out of place. 🙂

Not all wedding cakes need to be over the top! My very dear friend was married this morning at the winery where her fiancé proposed to her. It was just the two of them in a beautiful, intimate ceremony. Sunday afternoon, they both came over with a variety of decorations they chose. We picked out a few things that worked together and finished the small cutting cake I made for them. I love the way it turned out! A simple statement flower and some pearls turned this 6x8” cake into a little jewel.

I delivered this wedding cake to Pennsylvania this past weekend. It was so much fun to make. The bride’s vision included a quilted look and rhinestones. I added a a few of my signature sugar flowers, berries and buds in the bride’s colors as low profile accents so they didn’t conflict with the rhinestones, which are the main decorative element. The video doesn’t do justice to the pronounced sparkle of the rhinestones. They really pinged in the light when you walked around the cake. Congratulations, Lisa and Steve ! I’m so happy for you! This romantic garden wedding cake features a laced reins border brushed in bright white silver on the bottom tier for this professional equestrian bride. The whimsical sugar flowers and vines climbing up this wedding cake worked perfectly in the reception space: the gorgeous greenhouse looking out onto the lake at Avonlea Farms. Roselings, dogwoods, mini hydrangeas, ripening berries, American Bittersweets (creative license to render them in white) and a variety of leaves were handcrafted in sugar to create this special cake.
