🍳👨🏾🍳 Day 2 And we are in the Kitchen at Knead & Grind Culinary Camp!
Today we recapped kitchen safety instructions, food sanitation procedures, and the importance of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). Then it was time to get cooking!
Chef Ethan stepped up as our Head Chef for the day, leading his fellow chefs by making kitchen assignments, delegating duties, and ensuring everyone had a role to play. Our Kitchen Manager, Chef Isaiah, jumped in and helped bring the meal together by finishing the fried chicken.
Now for the real chef moment… I accidentally grabbed cornmeal from the store instead of flour! 😳 But what do great chefs do when things don’t go as planned? We pivoted!
Using creativity and teamwork, we improvised and used pancake flour as our chicken coating. And let me tell you… it was a Chef’s Kiss! 💋👌🏾
Today’s lesson wasn’t just about cooking. Our young chefs learned:

✅ Leadership
✅ Kitchen Management
✅ Problem Solving
✅ Food Presentation
✅ Working Fast While Maintaining Quality
✅ Pivoting Without Panicking
Most importantly, they learned that mistakes happen, and successful chefs find solutions.
We wrapped up the day with an amazing brunch, lots of laughs, and memories that will last a lifetime.
I’m so proud of these young chefs and excited to see their growth over the next few weeks!
